    PeaceHealth in Springfield, Oregon is seeking a Lab Manager for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Day position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $66.08 – $99.12. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

    Job Summary

    Serves as a clinical laboratory leader responsible for facilitating an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach in the delivery of care and programs; partnering with clinic Pathologist(s) and operational leadership to provide effective and proactive management of laboratory operations ensuring exceptional services to patients; achieving annual operational and financial goals; and for managing caregivers.

    What you will do:

    + Responsible for developing and implementing a PeaceHealth Microbiology Center of Excellence at the Riverbend Annex Location in Springfield.

    + Responsible for ensuring continued operational efficiency when the Director is absent.

    + Monitors adherence to operational and performance standards for assigned laboratory teams and sections. Oversees daily ambulatory lab operations to meet strategic objectives, including sample processing, testing, and reporting.

    + Oversight of caregivers in preanalytical and analytical phases of testing including but not limited to phlebotomists, lab assistants, couriers, lab scientists, laboratory IT, and technicians.

    + Contributes to attainment of key performance indicators (KPIs) goals such as turnaround time (TAT), quality control (QC) results, and proficiency testing (PT) performance, implementing quality assurance measures.

    + Identifies and resolves technical and operational obstacles, developing contingency plans for instrument failures or reagent shortages.

    + Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of laboratory strategies, programs, and policies in collaboration with senior leadership and the Lab Management team.

    + Maintains strategic relationships with key stakeholders, including clinicians, pathologists, and vendors.

    + Under the guidance of the Laboratory Director assists in the implementation of short- and long-range departmental goals related to test menu expansion, equipment acquisition, and process optimization.

    + Provides direct and indirect supervision of lab personnel, including medical technologists, technicians, and support staff, encompassing recruitment, training, competency and performance management.

    + Fosters professional growth of caregivers through continuous education and development opportunities related to new testing methodologies and instrumentatio

    + Delegates tasks to appropriate personnel, encourages open communication, and builds team accountability for accurate and timely test results.

    + Manages laboratory projects, such as equipment validation or new test implementation, by developing project plans, managing resources, and ensuring timely completion. Oversees laboratory facilities, including equipment calibration and maintenance, and manages facilities issues with internal and external vendors.

    + Collaborates on process and system improvements across laboratory sections and with clinical teams, focusing on efficiency and accuracy. Ensures proper validation and verification of new assays and instrumentation.

    + Addresses laboratory-related complaints and concerns, ensuring proper documentation and corrective actions. Ensures consistent application of laboratory protocols and adherence to service level agreements for testing.

    + Establishes and maintains relationships with vendors, reference laboratories, and regulatory agencies.

    + Represents the laboratory on regional and local committees and events, such as quality improvement initiatives or accreditation surveys. Actively participates in and/or leads various laboratory committees, meetings, and workgroups

    What you bring:

    + Bachelor's Degree Required: Medical Laboratory Technology General Science Degree with MLS (ASCP)

    + Minimum of 5 years Required: Experience in management of a clinical laboratory and high volume clinical microbiology laboratory and

    + Minimum of 1 year Required: Experience in leading a laboratory build or move

    + Required: MLS or MLT ASCP Certification
