EMPI Analyst II (EMPI Maintenance)

Responsible for analyzing, assessing, and performing chart corrections and identity investigations to maintain the integrity of each patient record within the enterprise master patient index, ensuring one record per patient is preserved. Participates in process improvement activities. Works under limited guidance and acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments based on knowledge, experience, and adherence to standard policies and practices.
Principal Accountabilities:
+ Analyzes and merges potential chart duplications and executes chart correction processes as identified using knowledge and experience to drive decision-making.
+ Communicates, collaborates, and acts as liaison and resource to internal and external contacts to resolve complex chart issues and follows up according to department procedures.
+ Identifies and alerts of job procedures that may need updating to ensure maximum effectiveness in process and resource time spent on job tasks.
+ Assists in identification and communication for areas of non-compliance with established policies and procedures to decrease the creation of duplicate medical records, overlays, and other data integrity issues.
+ Assists with education, training and/or mentoring new team members on an ad hoc basis.
+ Places chart advisories as appropriate. Assesses impact to Care Everywhere, MyChart, and other downstream systems. Appropriately directs requests for assistance via Cherwell Service Management, the Epic AHS Help Desk, and email.
+ Works assigned HIM Data Integrity Services work queues and reports.
+ Serves as a point person for day-to-day issues
+ Assists with high priority escalations and urgent corrections
+ Performs other related duties as assigned
Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements:
Education:
+ Bachelor degree, Associate degree, or equivalent experience required
Experience:
+ Skills, knowledge, and abilities gained through two or more years
of direct experience in HIM Data Integrity (EMPI Maintenance and/or
Chart Correction)
+ Demonstrated ability to form meaningful conclusions and present
complex data in an understandable format
+ Demonstrated competency in independent investigation and
resolution of duplicate medical records, contact move research,
demographic overlays, and application of appropriate and accurate
correction procedures.
+ Epic experience required
