This position is located at the Bridge Office in Oakdale and may have the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent will be expected to work in the office as determined by policy and discussion with their supervisor.
As the Assistant State Bridge Hydraulics Engineer, provide department and statewide technical expertise in hydrology, hydraulic design, drainage, structures and materials, technology, and standards.
Responsibilities are to:
+ Provide technical expertise to MnDOT staff, local government engineers and contractors; and
+ Maintain hydraulics related standards, specifications and manuals; and
+ Build and improve hydraulics knowledge and expertise in the department; and
+ Provide direction to other staff in in the Hydraulic Design and Standards unit.
Occasional in state travel is required, less than 10%.

Minimum Qualifications
Licensure as a professional civil engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geosciences and Interior Design (AELSLAGID) or ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity. (If obtaining licensure through reciprocity, a practice pending letter from AELSLAGID must be provided to MnDOT HR before starting employment) and;
Three years of experience as an Engineer Senior or equivalent that demonstrates:
+ Knowledge of hydrology, hydraulics and water resources;
+ Experience reviewing hydraulic analysis, designs, plans and specifications sufficient to identify discrepancies, inefficiencies and conformance to department and office policy;
+ Knowledge of hydraulic design and analysis software sufficient to review data for inconsistencies and errors;
+ Knowledge of the MnDOT drainage manual and related standards, guidance and procedures;
