    This position exists to provide coordination and management for Problem Gambling prevention and awareness services through grant administration and contract management, in accordance with state and other applicable regulations. The duties and tasks of the incumbent include taking responsibility for grant oversight and technical assistance for prevention, educational, and awareness services related to the Minnesota Problem Gambling program as overseen by the Behavioral Health Administration. This position will identify and interpret best practices research that fosters prevention and supports positive treatment recovery outcomes. It will support implementation through training, technical assistance, and on-site community prevention and awareness campaign program reviews. The incumbent is responsible for managing prevention grant efforts, will review and approve applications for DHS-approved gambling prevention and awareness campaign providers and perform other duties as assigned. This position will work with the prevention and clinical teams within the Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) to support problem gambling prevention and awareness campaign services. S/he will work across the division on related behavioral health initiatives to support a recovery-oriented system of care within the Administration, across the Department of Human Services (DHS) and with external program partners. This position will be responsible for providing input and feedback to support the DHS Problem Gambling Program with a focus on enhancing Problem Gambling services from prevention to treatment and recovery services across the state.

     

    Emphasis is placed upon coordinating activities promoting evidence-based and other best practices, using culturally responsive frameworks in the areas of problem gambling prevention and treatment among youth and adults in various cultural communities. The incumbent, while reporting directly to a supervisor, will also report on duties as assigned, initiatives, projects, and outcomes to other staff, including supervisors and managers within the division or department. The responsibilities of this position will involve participation in the broad-based divisional and departmental efforts to support goals, outcomes and initiatives using a work plan developed between the division's senior leadership, managers, supervisors and the incumbent. Duties and cross-divisional assignments are coordinated to reflect a collaborative framework with other BHA staff in the delivery of problem gambling services, including evaluation.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Two (2) years professional experience working with problem gambling prevention and substance use disorder prevention strategies.

    Experience must include:

    + Practical understanding of contract negotiation and financial/budget management practice.

    + Knowledge of the historical and current service delivery system in problem gambling prevention and treatment, or mental health or alcohol and drug prevention or treatment programs.

    + Prior experience working in prevention, early intervention, treatment, or recovery programs.

    + Applied understanding of addiction, mental illness, or other disorders along with related evidence-based practices

    + Skilled at using MS Office Suite programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.

    * **_Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related fields can substitute for one (1) year of required work experience._**

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures.

    + Proficiency in developing, assessing, interpreting, applying and monitoring programs and implications of county, federal, state and private funders' laws, rules and regulations.

    + Program planning and implementation, or evaluation of diverse community-based needs related to problem gambling.

    + Presentation skills to explore and solicit discussion from a diverse group to stakeholders for facilitation of goal-oriented outcomes.

    + Experience integrating, coordinating and/or reconciling the interests, mandates, responsibilities, goals and perspectives of a complex and diverse set of stakeholders across agencies and disciplines.

    + Expertise in program planning, implementation and evaluation of diverse community-based needs, challenges, assets and resources as it relates to PG prevention and treatment

    + Program management skills including prioritization, coordination, decision-making, strategic analysis, flexibility, and the ability to manage crisis situations while maintaining extensive and complex relationships

    + Strong human relations and communication skills; communicate clearly and professionally both verbally and in writing; respond openly to requests and concerns.
