    This position is located at Central Office in St. Paul and may have the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule, or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent will be expected to work in the office as determined by policy and discussion with their supervisor.

     

    In this position, you will apply land survey and real estate transaction skills/knowledge to support the statewide conveyance program. The conveyance program returns state lands under MnDOT’s control, no longer needed for a transportation purpose, to other public or private use. As a Conveyance Specialist you will prepare conveyance packages by reviewing property descriptions, determining land survey needs, and maintaining records and right-of-way databases for tracking conveyance projects. In addition, you will also process conveyance requests, review products for quality, and provide support to office staff related to the conveyance of property.

     

    Some in-state travel is required up to 10%; this includes some overnight in-state travel.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Typically, the level of experience to perform this job at the Transportation Specialist level can be achieved with:

    + Four years of experience performing right-of-way activities that includes utilizing computer-aided drafting and design;

    OR

    + Three years of experience performing design, pre-design, survey, or right of way activities PLUS a combination of one year of related experience in surveys, design, road maintenance, materials/soils, permits, etc.Three of the four years must have included utilizing computer-aided drafting and design (CADD).

     

    Note: A two-year Civil or Construction Technology Degree or the following four-year degrees: Architectural, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering; Land Surveying / Geomatics; or equivalent may substitute for one year of experience. (For education coursework to be considered instead of work experience, you must submit a copy of your transcripts.)

     

    + Working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak, and understand oral and written information; communicate with employees and the public in-person or via two-way radio and other electronic devices; and maintain routine written logs and simple records.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Knowledge and experience in real estate acquisition and disposition, design engineering, land surveys, and condemnation.

    + Knowledge and application of state and federal laws, regulations, and policies affecting real estate, land acquisition, and disposition.
