Ford ACE Central Engineering team is looking for a software engineer with experience in programming PLC systems. Preferably the Siemens PLC systems.

What you'll do...
This individual will engage with Siemens Application Engineers and vendors to create software templates (FAST). These software templates will be deployed for commonality of PLC systems for Ford New Model Programs.
What else you'll do...
+ Assist Software Engineers in developing PLC and CNC standards across PTME, VOME, and BME.
+ Design, Develop, Test, and apply standard software architectures across all programs/plants, following the PTO/GVOSS controls specifications.
+ Ensure the identification and capture of lessons learned along with their application to new programs, as well as the impact to existing strategies and standards.
+ Lead simultaneous engineering meetings with Tier I suppliers to orchestrate Software controls program reviews with all interested parties.
+ Participate in management program reviews and represent the controls organization in commodity discussions on software and virtual commissioning.
+ Drive the controls organization to resolve issues, including feasibility, timing, cost and workload.
+ Develop, maintain, and service software solutions for all templates for Industrial Controls Systems
+ Provide a strong skillset and background in code and application development.
+ Lead projects supporting manufacturing business units leveraging advanced technologies supporting Innovation and Pillar Teams
+ Collaborate with cross functional teams (MFG, PD, R&A, Suppliers) to deliver planned project deliverables
+ Benchmark new advanced technologies and develop supplier partnerships to benefit future state applications.
+ Teach/Coach/Mentor and document technical knowledge.
+ Provide technical leadership to peers and management to assure the delivery of system performance.
+ Interface with the Manufacturing Operations to understand their technical challenges and opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ BSc, Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial
+ 5+ years' experience with Manufacturing software systems
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Interest in controls engineering with strong aptitude to quickly learn and apply controls knowledge.
+ Direct program experience with assembly and machining controls architectures (hardware/software).
+ Knowledge of programming principals on Siemens PLC and CNC/Motion controls systems.
+ Hands-on knowledge and ability to troubleshoot PLC, CNC, robot, vision and other automation issues.
+ Knowledge of cell assembly/machining systems and integration of CNC controls, gantries and auxiliary equipment an asset.
+ Knowledge of assembly and machining RFID systems including complexity management, and QOS strategies.
+ Knowledge of international electrical/safety standards (UL, ISO, IEC etc) and familiarity with internal/external safety processes (risk assessments, PSS, integrated safety etc).
+ Able to read electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic prints. Ability to design electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic prints.
+ Understanding of communication network architectures and field bus protocols.
+ Extensive knowledge of Ford IT standard footprint applications such as FIS, QLSM, QWX, GPTS, QDAS, OBL, PDS etc.
+ Exposure and knowledge of all program delivery elements from the cost study phase to launch.
+ Process engineering knowledge including GPDS deliverables and plant operational impact of controls designs.
+ Experience interacting with senior management, process engineering, safety, IT, and plant production teams.
+ Self-starting, self-directed with extremely good influential, organizational and interpersonal skills.
+ Strong manufacturing background with heavy emphasis on production related controls experience.
+ Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage technical aspects of the position.
+ Comfortable with Microsoft Office products.
+ Experience with FMEA, DOE, DMAIC, 5D, 8D processes and problem-solving skills.

This position is a salary grade range 5-8.
