    R&D Director – Sustainable Materials

     

    An innovative and rapidly growing **sustainable materials company** in the **Miami, FL area** is seeking an experienced **R&D Director** to lead a talented team of scientists advancing next-generation biomaterials designed to replace single-use plastics.

     

    This is an incredible opportunity to join a **founding leadership team** developing **cutting-edge technologies** that make a real impact on global sustainability. The R&D Director will play a hands-on role managing laboratory operations, guiding product development from concept through scale-up, and collaborating with executive leadership and strategic partners.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Lead, mentor, and grow a team of scientists supporting multiple product lines.

    + Oversee lab operations, ensuring safety, efficiency, and scientific excellence.

    + Develop and execute R&D project plans, manage budgets, and track progress against key milestones.

    + Drive scale-up and product development initiatives, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams and external partners.

    + Contribute to go-to-market strategies, supplier relationships, and new technology roadmaps.

    + Present technical findings and strategies to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

    Qualifications

    + PhD (or equivalent experience) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline.

    + 5+ years of relevant R&D experience, including **2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role** .

    + Proven experience in **scale-up, prototyping, or process development** for advanced materials or related technologies.

    + Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

    + Demonstrated ability to thrive in a **fast-paced, innovative, and entrepreneurial environment** .

     

    Compensation & Benefits

     

    Salary $150,000- $180,000 (based on experience)
