    Assistant Provost for Assessment and Institutional Research

    POSITION DETAILS

    The Assistant Provost for Assessment and Institutional Research will collaborate closely with academic leadership, faculty, and administrative units to align assessment and data initiatives with the institution’s mission, strategic goals, and accreditation standards, and will play a critical role in promoting a culture of assessment and evidence-based decision-making across the institution.

    This position will oversee the Offices of Assessment and Institutional Research and work with the respective office directors in the following areas:

    Assessment:

    • Developing and implementing assessment policies and practices college-wide.

    • Guiding the development and implementation of assessment plans at the program, department, and administrative levels.

    • Collaborating with deans, department chairs, and faculty to promote meaningful assessment of student learning outcomes and improvement of programs.

    • Leading assessment and accreditation processes for MSCHE and other accrediting bodies.

    • Developing and delivering training workshops and resources on assessment, data interpretation, and reporting tools.

    Institutional Research:

    • Fostering cross-campus collaboration around data-informed decision-making and institutional improvement.

    • Directing institutional research activities, including data collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting.

    • Managing the production of internal and external reports (e.g., IPEDS, accreditation reports, Common Data Set).

    • Overseeing institutional surveys and data dashboards to inform planning and decision-making.

    • Supporting data governance and data integrity across academic and administrative units.

    CONTRACT TITLE

    QUALIFICATIONS

    This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.

    OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

    • Advanced degree in Higher Education, Educational Research, Public Policy, Statistics, or related field (doctorate preferred).

    • 5–7 years of experience in institutional research, assessment, accreditation, or related field in a higher education setting.

    • Strong knowledge of MSCHE assessment and accreditation requirements.

    • Demonstrated ability to manage and analyze complex datasets using tools such as SPSS, SAS, R, Power BI, Tableau, or similar.

    • Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills.

    • Experience with student information systems (e.g., EAB Navigate, Brightspace, Workday).

    • Familiarity with national data sources (e.g., IPEDS)

    • Experience leading cross-functional teams or committees.

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

    Commensurate with qualifications and experience within the range of $155,000 - $175,000.
