GENERAL SUMMARY** **:
The purpose of this position is to assist the Joyce E. Lillis School of Nursing (JELSON) in fulfilling its mission by facilitating student acquisition of the required knowledge, attitudes, and skills, necessary for success in the student's chosen career in health sciences.
The CNA instructor will lead and direct students toward their goal of satisfactory completion of the Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS** **:
+ Teach a combination of theory, lab, and clinical courses in the CNA training program.
+ Provide students written course expectations, including course objectives, attendance policy, methods of
evaluation, and grading practices.
+ Evaluates student progress on a continuing basis, reporting in writing at designated times.
+ Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and/or courses.
+ Develops and maintains professional relationships with community, business and industry representatives.
+ Collaborate with the Manager of Clinical Coordination to secure clinical placements.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED** **:
+ Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
+ Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience, at least one of which is in a long-term care environment.
+ Current and valid Iowa RN licensure.
+ Experience teaching in a CNA program or supervising CNAs.
+ Demonstrated ability to utilize appropriate, varied and innovative classroom/clinical/field teaching
strategies.
+ Other duties as assigned.
