    Controls Engineer - Gas Turbine Testing

    Description: A Controls Engineer position supporting gas turbine engine testing is available at Belcan with one of our high profile clints onsite at Stennis facility in southwest Mississippi. This is a full time, direct job with full benefits. Great matching candidates will have a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Computer Engineering or computer science. Other related disciplines may be considered depending on experience. You will be a key team member supporting an exciting engine development program in test. You will be the controls representative of a multifunctional team supporting developmental engine test. If you are in and around the southern Mississippi/Louisiana or willing to relocate for to the area, this may be a great opportunity for you.

    Job duties:

    Primary and secondary role:

    • The primary role will be working with the multifunctional team planning and executing engine test directives. The multifunctional team includes Test Engineer Lead, Performance, Dynamics and operators.

    • You will be required to monitor the control system to ensure safe operation. This may also include performing software adjustments as required.

    • If anomalies occur you will need to help diagnose the root cause and help provide a solution to continue testing.

    • The secondary role will be to support Systems Verification remotely when engine test is not occurring. You will work with team members based in Indianapolis, Indiana on creating and executing test procedures remotely on a test rig.

    • Onsite training will be provided.

    Required qualifications:

    • Due to the nature of the work performed, U.S. Citizenship is a required.

    • Bachelor's or master"s degree in, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

    • Previous Gas Turbine is preferred, other control system test experience will be considered.

    • High attention to detail to be able to work both independently and effectively within a team environment.

    • Aptitude for computers, software, and scripting languages.

    • Experienced with scripting, scripting principles and scripting languages (Python, Perl, "homegrown" language, etc.)

    • Ability to learn new tools and concepts quickly.

    • Ability to work in a hybrid work environment including virtual teams.

    • Ability to flexible to work different shifts that may be driven by weather conditions.

    • Self-motivated and highly organized contributor willing to help others be successful - as a key team member you will earn responsibility, accountability to the team, and enjoy job satisfaction.

    • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to be inquisitive and be highly communicative are critical to your success in this role to enable team engagement, team representation to customers and stakeholders (verbal and non-verbal forms of communication).

    • Ability to travel locally up to 25%

    Preferred qualifications & skills:

    • Basic knowledge of gas turbine control systems is recommended but willingness to learn is at high pace will be required.

    • requirements databases and/or software development tools, such as Matlab/Simulink, LabView, DOORS, etc., may be helpful, but is not required.

    • The ability to understand system and software requirements and general systems engineering process helpful.

    • Understanding of control theory practical experience in verification and validation helpful.

    • Willingness to work off-shift hours as required.

    • Interest in aviation and/or aerospace applications.

    Compensation:

    We provide a competitive pay and benefits package. This position is offering a salary range of $65,000 to $90,000. Belcan considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to education, experience, geographic location, and discipline. Benefits offered may include health care, dental, vision, life insurance; 401(k); education assistance; paid time off including PTO, holidays, and any other paid leave required by law.
