JOB SUMMARY:
The primary responsibilities of the part-time Academic Liaison is to assist the Academic Coordinator in the overall administration and development of the academic programming.
Responsibilities include overseeing the individualized academic support plan of students (see below); managing the graduate and undergraduate student staff (see below); and communicating and collaborating with other campus services (see below).
SALARY INFORMATION:
In compliance with New York’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this part-time position is $30,000. Adelphi University considers factors such as departmental budgets, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
REPORTS TO:Academic Coordinator of the Bridges to Adelphi Program
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
+ Maintain confidential student records and ensure accuracy of record keeping
+ Assist Academic Coordinator with correspondence and scheduling appointments with students, parents, and faculty
+ Collaborate with the Academic Coordinators and their assistants on interviewing of graduate and undergraduate staff
+ Support Associate Director, Coordinators, and assistants on training of graduate and undergraduate staff
+ Supervise undergraduate and graduate student workers, as needed
+ Communicate and meet with faculty, as needed
+ Support with parent correspondence, as needed
+ Support scheduling tutoring appointments with the Learning Center and Writing Center and language lab for students
+ Support students by scheduling additional academic support meetings, as approved by the Academic Coordinator
+ Meets with students on academic probation, as designated by Academic Coordinator
+ Assist the Associate Director and Academic Coordinator, as needed
+ Assist staff and students, as needed
+ Attend and present workshops and at community events to promote Bridges Support Services
+ Perform other job-related duties, as requested by the Director, Senior Associate Director, Associate Director, and Academic Coordinator.
REQUIREMENTS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
+ Ability to prioritize workload according to volume, urgency, etc.
+ Good organization skills and attention to detail.
+ Good interpersonal skills, problem-solving and communication skills.
+ Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively and accurately.
+ Good verbal and writing skills.
+ Good computer skills for using Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, and Email.
+ Knowledge and experience working with college students with neurodiverse disorders
+ Strong ability to fluctuate between collaborating with others and maintain independent working responsibilities.
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
+ Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Education, Communication Disorders or related fields is required.
+ Must have a minimum of one year of related work experience with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or other neurodiverse disorders.
+ Job-related experience working in student services and higher education is preferred.
