Solar Technician II – Field Services Operations
Compensation: $35-$40/hr (Negotiable based upon experience)
A rapidly growing renewable energy company is seeking a skilled Solar Technician II to join its Field Services Operations team. This role is ideal for a self-motivated individual with strong troubleshooting experience and leadership capabilities. The successful candidate will support the maintenance and operation of solar energy systems, mentor junior technicians, and contribute to the continued growth of one of the industry’s leading independent power producers.
Key Responsibilities
+ Perform corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance on solar equipment including inverters (SMA), trackers (NEXTracker & ATI), combiner boxes, PV modules, DC/AC collection systems.
+ Conduct routine electrical troubleshooting, instrumentation calibration, and inverter diagnostics.
+ Prepare and execute switching and clearance orders.
+ Operate electrical and mechanical systems within the power plant.
+ Assist with vegetation management using tractors, mowers, and other equipment.
+ Draft plant orders, procedures, and operating instructions.
+ Ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards.
+ Work independently or as part of a crew on technical and administrative tasks.
Qualifications & Skills
+ Strong understanding of workplace safety and ability to enhance existing safety protocols.
+ Experience in routine and emergency operations at solar generation facilities and substations.
+ Proficiency in electrical/construction projects and basic IT systems.
+ Familiarity with substation equipment and operations.
+ Excellent communication skills and professionalism.
+ Team-oriented with a proactive attitude and strong work ethic.
+ Detail-oriented with analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
+ Technical proficiency with business software and documentation.
+ Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.
+ Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
Education & Experience
+ Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent journeyman qualifications.
+ Minimum 3 years of experience in PV O&M as a solar technician.
+ At least 5 years of experience in power plant operations, with 1+ years in PV solar O&M or construction.
+ Solid understanding of electrical/mechanical fundamentals and control systems.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Lancaster, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $72000.00 - $82000.00/yr.
