Job Title: Automated Test Development Engineer - Strong Electrical Engineer
The Test Automation Engineer / Electrical Engineer will design and deliver test systems for electronic products. This role involves developing requirements from scratch and designing multi-layer PCBs to build Automated Test Equipment (ATEs). The engineer will identify gaps in test coverage and own the design and delivery of hardware and software test solutions. Additionally, responsibilities include defining test plans for new products and features, supporting software, firmware, and hardware design teams. The Test Automation Engineer will also design and execute PCBA and electrical components with hands-on testing and rework, as well as design and implement next-generation test automation hardware systems for fast and repeatable product testing.
Responsibilities
+ Design and deliver test systems for electronic products.
+ Develop requirements from scratch and design multi-layer PCBs.
+ Identify gaps in test coverage and design hardware and software test solutions.
+ Define test plans for new products and features.
+ Support software, firmware, and hardware design teams.
+ Design and execute PCBA and electrical components with hands-on testing and rework.
+ Design and implement next-generation test automation hardware systems.
Essential Skills
+ Strong Electrical Engineering fundamentals.
+ Experience in schematic capture, PCB design, and circuit analysis.
+ Proficiency in programming/scripting, particularly with LabVIEW. Python, C++, or other programming languages are also accepted.
+ Experience with building automated test stations.
+ Knowledge of oscilloscopes and hardware testing.
+ Requirement management and test plan development skills.
+ Experience with component selection and test automation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
+ Experience with PCB schematic capture and layout; proficiency in Altium is a plus.
+ Ability to develop 8+ layer PCBs through the entire product lifecycle.
+ Experience in managing product lifecycle from requirements to deployment.
+ Capability to develop test and validation strategies.
+ Experience in developing test automation from component to system level.
Work Environment
The role supports Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) within a Test Engineering team of 65 members. Programs supported include Roadrunner, Ghost, Anvil, and Fury. The environment offers the opportunity to work on state-of-the-art technology supporting the defense sector, with a focus on agility and innovation. The team collaborates with experts across mechanical, firmware, and software domains, contributing to a fast-paced and growth-oriented work environment
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Costa Mesa, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $90.00/hr.
