Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Engineer to design and develop innovative machinery, equipment, and production systems aimed at enhancing operational efficiency. This role involves planning and executing modifications to existing equipment to improve functionality, safety, and reliability. The successful candidate will conduct feasibility studies, create detailed design drawings using CAD software, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
Responsibilities:
+ Design and develop new machinery, equipment, and production systems to improve operational efficiency.
+ Plan and execute modifications to existing equipment to enhance functionality, safety, and reliability.
+ Conduct feasibility studies and technical evaluations for new and modified equipment.
+ Create detailed design drawings and technical documentation using CAD software.
+ Specify requirements for new equipment and evaluate their feasibility and compliance with operational needs.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, maintenance, process engineering, and quality assurance, to optimize designs.
+ Manage projects from conception to completion, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
+ Assess the validity and suitability of commercial equipment and vendor-designed solutions.
+ Troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues during installation and operation.
+ Stay updated with the latest advancements in mechanical design and manufacturing technologies.
Essential Skills:
+ Proficiency in 2D CAD software (AutoCAD) for mechanical design and drafting.
+ Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, material selection, and machine components.
+ Design knowledge of mechanical components such as gears, bearings, cams, and link mechanisms.
+ Material engineering expertise, including properties of metals and plastics, heat treatment, and surface treatment.
+ Understanding and application of tolerances and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
+ Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including pumps, cylinders, valves, and piping design.
+ Knowledge of electrical equipment and control systems, including motor types, inverters, relays, solenoid valves, and sensors.
+ Experience with measurement instruments, including voltage, current, and resistance measurement, and the use of temperature, pressure, and flow sensors.
+ Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
+ Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
+ Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's or Graduate's Degree of Engineering or Designing from a four-year college or university, or equivalent experience.
+ Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and database utilization.
+ Experience with PLCs, automation, and control systems is a plus.
+ Experience with 3D CAD (Inventor) is a plus.
+ Excellent communication skills and supervisory experience.
Work Environment:
+ The role is based in Virginia Beach, Virginia, and involves work in both the main office and production facility.
+ The work environment includes moderate noise levels in the office and typical machinery noise in the production facility.
+ Safety glasses and shoes are required in the production facility and warehouse.
+ The role requires sitting, standing, walking, and occasionally lifting up to 20 pounds.
+ The ability to work in various environmental conditions, such as hot, cold, and noisy settings, is necessary.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Virginia Beach, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $100000.00/hr.
