    Position Overview

    We are seeking a Mechanical Systems Engineer with a strong background in mechanical design and systems engineering to lead and evolve our Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (UUV) programs. This role requires a dynamic and analytical individual who can assess current project feasibility, identify areas for improvement, and scope new product opportunities in collaboration with customers and cross-functional teams.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead and oversee UUV projects, ensuring alignment with technical requirements, timelines, and customer expectations.

    • Evaluate existing systems and designs to determine feasibility, fit, and areas for optimization.

    • Conduct feasibility studies and fit checks using SolidWorks and other modeling tools.

    • Collaborate with customers to understand their evolving needs and translate them into actionable engineering requirements.

    • Scope and define new products/projects, including technical specifications, resource needs, and development timelines.

    • Provide systems-level insight to ensure integration across mechanical, electrical, and software domains.

    • Drive continuous improvement by identifying gaps in current designs and proposing innovative solutions.

    • Communicate effectively across teams and with external stakeholders, bringing a dynamic and engaging presence to technical discussions.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.

    • Proven experience in mechanical design and systems engineering, preferably in UUV or marine robotics.

    • Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling, fit checks, and design validation.

    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess project feasibility and recommend improvements.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to engage dynamically with customers and internal teams.

    • Experience in scoping and launching new engineering projects or products.

    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

    This is a Contract position based out of Bourne, MA.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $42.50 - $60.00/hr.
