The Quality Engineer is responsible for coordinating and managing day-to-day activities related to product and document inspection. This role involves resolving customer inquiries by collaborating with internal QA divisions, external manufacturing inspection teams, and sales and marketing teams to enhance the reliability of existing product lines. The Quality Engineer will work on resolving quality and in-service performance issues while recommending and developing process improvements to ensure the highest quality assurance standards are met.
Responsibilities
+ Identify current and potential non-conformance problems.
+ Conduct root cause analysis to determine corrective actions and validation procedures.
+ Collaborate with QA inspection teams, quality representatives, sales management, and customers to resolve product in-service issues and complaints.
+ Monitor and analyze processes, quality, and non-conformance data, and prepare documentation including technical reports and recommendations for improvements.
+ Develop and maintain detailed product knowledge and perform dimensional evaluations or initiate technical evaluation tests.
+ Lead or participate in quality engineering process improvement projects.
+ Respond to and attend customer, manufacturer, or supplier quality meetings as required.
+ Attend department or company-sponsored meetings or training sessions.
+ Travel globally as necessary for the job.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
+ 3 - 5 years of experience in manufacturing and/or quality control with an aerospace manufacturing background .
+ Strong knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes and AS9100 Quality Management Systems.
+ Proficiency in blueprint reading, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing principles.
+ Experience with gauge reproducibility and repeatability, external auditing techniques, and 3D Model Based Definition (CATIA, Enovia DMU).
+ Ability to conduct root cause analysis related to aerospace.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Technical degree or equivalent experience in a quality engineering role.
+ Experience with quality documentation, including First Article Inspection Reports, PPAP, and Non-Conformance Corrective Action Plans.
+ Experience with supplier quality and customer-facing interactions.
+ Knowledge of APQP, quality assurance, and deviation management.
+ Nice to have aerospace experience.
Work Environment
This role is based onsite in a warehouse-type setting, with frequent interactions with customers. The position may require onsite visits to customer facilities located nearby, approximately 10 minutes away.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $40.00/hr.
