Job Title: SAS Technician II - Systems TechnicianJob Description

We are seeking a dedicated SAS Technician II to oversee laboratory operations and collaborate with engineering teams on the assembly, integration, and testing of optical inter-satellite link systems. The role involves working with opto-mechanical systems and developing technical procedures, making significant contributions to our innovative projects.

Responsibilities

+ Perform assembly and integration, including fiber splicing, and testing of optical communication systems.

+ Work closely with engineering teams to support product development and testing.

+ Create and maintain technical documentation and procedures.

+ Build and test first article units and support laboratory operations.

+ Maintain test equipment and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including optical, mechanical, and electrical engineers.

+ Execute test procedures and accurately record results.

+ Assist in troubleshooting and problem resolution.

Essential Skills

+ Experience in opto-mechanical systems.

+ Ability to develop and document technical procedures.

+ Proficiency in technical documentation and procedure writing.

+ Experience with laboratory equipment and testing procedures.

+ Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

+ Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Associate's degree in Electronics, Photonics, or related technical field.

+ 2+ years of experience in optical systems or a related technical field.

+ Bachelor's degree in a related technical field is a plus.

+ Experience with optical communication systems.

+ Knowledge of clean room protocols.

+ Familiarity with laser safety procedures.

+ Experience with precision alignment of optical components.

+ Background in aerospace or satellite communications.

Work Environment

This position is based onsite in Redmond, WA, within an ISO-certified cleanroom environment. The role is part of a specialized team responsible for high-precision optical metrology in the Optical Inter-Satellite Link (OISL) program. You will work with state-of-the-art interferometry, surface profilometry, and wavefront analysis techniques. The work environment offers unique exposure to advanced optical fabrication processes and cutting-edge metrology equipment, interfacing directly with optical fabrication engineers, systems engineers, and quality assurance teams. Your contributions will play a vital role in maintaining manufacturing excellence and enhancing optical measurement and characterization processes, directly impacting the performance and reliability of space-based optical communication systems.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of REDMOND, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
