Job Title: Product EngineerJob Description
The Product Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing new products, utilizing design engineering and mechanical engineering principles. This role involves creating detailed CAD models, analyzing and designing new products, and making improvements to existing processes and designs. The engineer will perform technical calculations, document releases, FEA analysis, and GD&T. Collaboration across sales, operations, and quality departments is essential.
Responsibilities
+ Work with customers to determine requirements and collaborate with other functions in the development of new or modified products.
+ Aid in the creation of product proposals, including analysis, drawings, concepts, and costing.
+ Prepare product design layouts and detailed drawing specifications, performing CAD activities within SolidWorks and ensuring completeness according to engineering standards.
+ Utilize PDM software tools for mechanical design, modeling, and drawing creation.
+ Perform FEA analyses to verify the strength and durability of design concepts.
+ Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GDT) and knowledge of manufacturing processes such as casting, steel forging, plastic molding, and CNC machining.
+ Participate in design reviews, presenting technical information clearly and concisely to cross-functional audiences.
+ Solve design issues using a team-based, hands-on approach.
+ Manage engineering and design projects, coordinating design, drawing, and analysis reviews.
+ Monitor program status and report technical progress and risk items to management.
+ Work cross-functionally with sales, operations, customer service, product management, and quality to meet customer expectations.
+ Develop test plans, assist in testing as required, analyze, summarize, and act on results.
+ Respond to customer and supplier inquiries via phone, email, and on-site reviews.
+ Provide hands-on support for engineering and concept builds, including assembly, welding, and testing.
+ Create, maintain, implement, and adhere to Product Engineering standards.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
+ 5+ years of experience designing in SolidWorks, with a focus on conceptual design.
+ Proficiency in FEA.
+ Experience working directly with customers.
+ Experience in multi-industry environments, including metal stamping, forming, CNC, welding, die casting, and heat treating.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Knowledge of the mechanical properties of materials and processes such as heat treatment and cryogenic treatment.
+ Experience with caster technology.
Work Environment
The workload will be split between two locations, supporting both medium and heavy-duty casters. The team consists of five other engineers. The work is generally divided between an office environment and the manufacturing floor, with about 70% at the desk and 30% on the floor. The manufacturing floor can be loud and may require standing for long periods. The typical workweek is 45 hours, starting at 7:30 AM. The role involves cross-functional collaboration with Manufacturing Engineers, Sales, Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.87 - $50.48/hr.
