Job Title: Certified Welding Inspector
Job Description
The Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality and integrity of welded joints and structures. This role involves performing visual and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, evaluating weld quality, and ensuring that all welding procedures comply with industry standards and client specifications. The position is critical in preventing welding defects and ensuring the structural reliability of welded components.
Responsibilities
+ Perform visual inspections of welds, checking for defects such as cracks, porosity, undercuts, and incomplete fusion.
+ Utilize non-destructive testing methods like ultrasonic testing, radiographic testing, magnetic particle testing, and dye penetrant testing to evaluate welds for internal and external defects.
+ Measure weld dimensions, including throat thickness, bead size, and penetration, to ensure compliance with specified weld procedures.
+ Monitor and inspect welds for proper joint fit-up, preheating, interpass temperature, and post-weld heat treatment conditions.
+ Review and approve welding procedure specifications, ensuring procedures meet necessary codes, standards, and client requirements.
+ Ensure welding qualifications are conducted according to industry standards and are up to date.
+ Verify that welding operations are performed according to applicable codes and project-specific requirements.
+ Document and report non-conformance issues and recommend corrective actions for weld repairs or rework.
+ Maintain records of inspection activities, including reports on weld inspections, NDT results, and corrective actions.
+ Communicate with project managers, engineers, and supervisors to ensure welding processes meet quality and safety requirements.
+ Provide feedback and training to welders to improve welding techniques and ensure compliance with best practices and standards.
+ Attend meetings to discuss welding-related issues, project progress, and troubleshooting.
+ Ensure that the correct welding equipment, consumables, and materials are used according to the welding procedure specifications and material specifications.
Essential Skills
+ Certified Welding Inspector certification
+ Experience with inspection and quality control
+ Proficiency in blueprint reading
+ Knowledge of quality assurance practices
+ Proficiency in using calipers and micrometers
+ Expertise in visual inspection techniques
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ 4-8 years of experience in a related field
+ Bilingual in English and another language
Work Environment
This position involves working on a rotating shift schedule, with one shift from 5:00 AM to 1:30 PM and another from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM. The work is focused in the quality assurance area, requiring attention to detail and adherence to safety standards.

This is a Contract position based out of Madera, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $29.00/hr.
