    Job Description

    Position Purpose:

    Responsible for implementing a comprehensive project health and safety program. Will serve as a liaison between the company, project team, and subcontractors. Coordinates the project efforts to control or mitigate loss-producing conditions or injuries. Implement project policies and procedures necessary for safe operations.

    Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

    + Implement training and orientation methods for the hazards to assist the project team in accepting, understanding and applying knowledge to their respective project activities, duties and responsibilities.

    + Implement visual and printed materials based on identified project problems and solutions which are directed at employees and external audiences to assist in reducing accidents, injuries, and illnesses.

    + Investigate project accidents, incidents, injuries and illnesses that have occurred along with the review literature and related standards. Determine possible causes and take remedial methods. Record and report statistical information relating to all project safety issues.

    + Establish a project audit program and monitor program performance.

    + Inspect and identify project conditions or processes having the potential to cause damage or injury to employees and/or property. Visual inspections, review of documents, interviews or inquiries, literature searches, application of job safety analysis.

    + Evaluate and review of recognized hazards associated with project conditions, methods and processes or the comparison of existing hazard levels to standards.

    + Assignments are in the form of broad goals or areas of responsibility with considerable latitude for decision making.

    + Significant independent action and judgment are required subject to general company policies.

    + Planning for the project execution is on an ongoing basis. Continually seeking new and improved methods to provide the most up to date project health and safety techniques and procedures.

    + Participate in project meetings, group discussions and make project presentations.

    + Provide training and/or orientation on project health and safety methods, policies and procedures.

    Work Environment:

    + May be exposed to all types of external conditions associated with projects such as dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes and similar elements while providing safe operations.

    + Exposure to all office equipment, i.e. copy machines, keyboarding, etc.

    + Limited day travel & overnight travel is required for training and projects.

    Qualifications

    Education/Experience/Background:

    + High School Diploma/GED is required.

    + Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.

    + 3 - 5 years of relevant experience.

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    + Must be able to document and/or investigate project issues using unbiased observation.

    + Work with the PM regarding health and safety conditions on the project.

    + Must be able to work independently with little supervision in addition to frequently coordinating, communicating with the project team to provide support and solve problems and/or issues.

    + Provide assistance to the project manager, construction manager and participate in project safety events.

    Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

    + CPR/AED and Standard First Aid certification required.

    + 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification.

    Physical Requirements:

    + Must be able to lift or handle objects of 30 pounds.
