We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Production Accountant to join our dynamic team. This role involves leading event production operational leadership, managing financial consulting for events, and contributing to business growth. You will play a critical role in overseeing vendor contracting, invoicing, and maintaining fiscal discipline while optimizing cash flow and managing financial risks. This position offers the opportunity to work with a growing global media startup and support world-class events, including high-profile summits.
Responsibilities
+ Manage vendor contracting and invoicing workstreams, ensuring compliance with standards and requirements.
+ Monitor and manage cash flow to align expenses with revenue.
+ Collaborate with the events team to develop initial event budgets and provide financial oversight.
+ Lead budget reconciliation post-event.
+ Maintain accurate records for grant-funded support, ensuring compliance and transparency.
+ Oversee the development of a streamlined contracting and invoicing system.
+ Manage overall financial reporting for the events business in partnership with the finance team.
+ Focus on maintaining fiscal discipline and optimizing cash flow.
+ Identify opportunities for cost savings and economies of scale.
+ Identify trends across the event product line and recommend revenue optimization tactics.
+ Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to develop event pricing and rate cards.
+ Partner with finance and events leadership on additional reporting and analytics.
Essential Skills
+ 5+ years of experience in finance or accounting.
+ 3+ years in production accounting or event finance.
+ Strong understanding of invoicing, vendor management, budgeting, and reconciliations.
+ Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks and NetSuite.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
+ Excellent organizational and communication skills.
+ Ability to collaborate across teams.
+ Experience with grant-funded projects and compliance requirements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
+ CPA or equivalent preferred.
+ Experience working in the US and EMEA markets.
+ Willingness to travel as needed for events.
Work Environment
This role requires working 4 days in the office and 1 day from home. There is potential for occasional travel to events in Washington DC. The position involves reporting to the Director of Finance and collaborating with the sales team.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New York, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
