Job Title: Payroll Analyst/AccountantJob Description
We are seeking a skilled Payroll Analyst/Accountant for a 6-8 week contract to assist in closing out the year for a large government firm based in Seattle, WA. This position offers a hybrid work schedule, with remote work on Mondays and Fridays and onsite presence from Tuesday to Thursday. The role entails a thorough review and analysis of payroll systems and data to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Responsibilities
+ Review payroll systems, assess current payroll configurations, coding structures, and payroll data sources used to calculate overtime, and identify gaps in tracking FLSA-only overtime.
+ Analyze historical and current payroll data to separate FLSA-qualified overtime (hours > 40/week) from non-FLSA overtime, such as daily overtime, holiday pay, and CBA premiums.
+ Calculate the premium portion of FLSA overtime at 0.5x the regular rate for each eligible employee, ensuring that reports also reflect non-FLSA driven calculations for comparison and reconciliation.
+ Collaborate with members of the Payroll and Business Technology Team to validate logic and ensure alignment with reporting requirements.
+ Develop and document a reasonable estimation methodology for 2025, in accordance with Treasury guidance, including methodology, assumptions, reconciliation, and validation logic.
+ Prepare data for inclusion in Form W-2 reporting and internal audit purposes.
+ Provide training or documentation for internal staff to continue compliant tracking beyond the contract term.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in tax accounting, federal tax deduction, and W-2 reporting.
+ Strong understanding of FLSA overtime and payroll accounting.
+ Experience with data analysis, reconciliation, general ledger, and journal entry.
+ Knowledge of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and related deductions.
+ Proficiency with complex accounting systems, especially payroll systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Knowledge of broad-based accounting principles.
+ Strong data analytics skills and the ability to develop automated workflows using Alteryx or other data analytics tools.
+ Ability to understand the interrelationships and interdependencies of data between system tables.
Work Environment
The work environment is hybrid, with the expectation to work remotely two days a week and onsite three days a week at the headquarters located at Pier 69. This position provides a great opportunity to get your foot in the door and potentially transition to a direct role in the future. A pre-employment drug and background check are required.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
