Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain robust IT and OT network infrastructures, including LAN and WAN systems. This role is responsible for ensuring optimal network performance, reliability, and security through the deployment and support of EMS (Energy Management Systems) network equipment such as Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls.
In this role, you will:
+ Design and Implement Networks Create and maintain IT and OT related networks including LAN and WAN infrastructure. Design and implement network solutions to improve performance, reliability, and security. Install, configure, and support EMS Energy Management Systems network equipment including Cisco switches, routers, and firewalls. Network Traffic Management and Monitoring Monitor and manage network traffic using tools such as Solarwinds. Proficiency in using Wireshark or other tools for network troubleshooting. Perform routine checks, updates, and performance tuning. Firewall & Security Management Develop and implement firewall rules to meet operational and compliance requirements. Proactively review and optimize firewall rules to enhance security posture. Implement network security policies including VPNs and access control systems. Perform vulnerability assessments and apply patches to maintain NERC CIP and TSA compliance. Authentication & Access Controls Support and maintain RSA two-factor authentication systems. Configure and manage TACACS and Cisco ISE for network access control. Documentation Maintain and update all network-related documentation including configurations, modifications, and troubleshooting procedures. Collaboration Work closely with other IT Teams and businesses to ensure smooth system integration and cross-functional support. Support & Operations Troubleshoot and resolve highly complex network issues across multiple platforms. Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24 cross 7 network support. Provide implementation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and user support as needed. Monitoring and Alerting: Continuously monitor network and server systems for potential issues, alarms, and alerts to prevent or minimize downtime.
+ Troubleshooting and Resolution: Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve network problems, such as performance slowdowns, server crashes, and bandwidth issues.
+ Incident Management: Respond to incidents and outages promptly, analyze faults, and escalate problems when necessary.
+ System and Network Maintenance: Implement network changes, updates, and patches, and manage IT equipment like routers, switches, and firewalls.
+ Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation, including troubleshooting steps and network environment details.
+ Coordination and Support: Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to resolve technical issues and provide support to end-users.
+ Reporting: Generate reports on network performance and incident details.
+ Security: Ensure security protocols are followed and help manage user access, such as creating accounts and resetting passwords.
+ Technical Knowledge: Proficiency with network equipment (routers, switches, firewalls), operating systems (Linux/Unix, Windows Server), and networking protocols (DNS, DHCP).
+ Troubleshooting: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and fix complex issues.
+ Experience: Prior experience in a NOC or similar support environment is often required.

Salary and Other Compensation:
Applications will be accepted until November12, 2025
The annual salary for this position is between $79,240 to $133,500 depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
