    Job Description

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION

    The School of Medicine (SoM) Staff HR Shared Services team provides expert consultation and advanced support to SoM departments and Dean of Medicine units through the newly developed Compensation and Data Analytics team. The SoM Compensation and Data Analytics team is designed to enhance strategic human resources decision making through workforce reporting and advanced data analytics. The team provides seamless and high-quality customer service to the SoM’s 31 departments and 30+ Dean’s Office units. These departments and units have competing priorities and expectations, necessitating the ability to juggle multiple tasks for several different stakeholders and SoM leaders who need accurate data along with sensible input to inform their decisions.

     

    Reporting to the Senior Compensation and Data Analyst, the HR Data Analyst (Analyst) plays a critical role in data management, reporting, and compensation data support that informs strategic HR decisions and ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements.

     

    The Analyst will handle Human Resources and Payroll matters requiring independent judgment, analysis, and discretion in effecting, executing, and discharging personnel functions in the University of Washington's human capital management system, Workday. This position will have primary responsibility over the data integrity of the human capital information, and efficiency over business process entries. Workday functions encompass the areas of employment, classification, promotions, onboarding, compensation, benefits, leave management, and training and development for all staff and student employees.

     

    This position will be highly analytical, resourceful, customer focused, and team oriented. This position is expected to understand, interpret, and apply appropriate policy, procedure, and required HR laws and regulations. The Analyst is expected to access and use the minimum necessary information to perform job responsibilities and ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulations.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Reporting and Data Analysis (60%)

    + Independently analyze large and complex datasets to identify trends and provide recommendations to the Senior Compensation and Data Analyst in alignment with the Compensation and Data Analytics team goals.

    + Serve as point of contact for annual professional staff merit process. Produce individual department reports to collect merit data for staff. Work closely with the Senior Compensation and Data Analyst and other stakeholders in providing each department data sets for the professional staff merit process. Collect completed reports and collate for the School. Provide statistical analysis of merit data once the process is complete.

    + Continually review data points within systems to ensure departments are using the data fields correctly and in a uniform manner across the school.

    + Independently respond to ad-hoc data requests from the Senior Compensation and Data Analyst and the Staff HR Shared Services team with efficiency and accuracy. These include headcount reports, business process transaction reports, security role validation, and compensation reports. Provide data and analysis to use in developing staffing models and capacity limits.

    + Provide customized analysis and reports to address specific organizational needs and initiatives.

    + This position will work closely with the SoM HR Shared Services, central HR offices, and departmental leadership in understanding, interpreting, and ensuring adherence to institutional policy and required HR laws and regulations.

    Compensation Analysis and Support (30%)

    + Provide data support for compensation reviews, including market adjustments, compression and inversion analyses, equity analyses, and other salary-related evaluations, ensuring compliance with university policies and legal requirements.

    + Assist with the preparation and review of compensation-related survey responses and annual reporting initiatives.

    + Support implementation of SoM-level compensation practices, ensuring consistency and compliance across the School as established by the Senior Compensation and Data Analyst.

    Special Projects and Other Duties (10%)

    + Participate in and manage projects to improve HR data systems, reporting tools, and analytics workflows for the Compensation and Data Analytics team.

    + Support strategic initiatives and complete special projects.

    + Handle restricted and confidential information, including strategic plans, financial data, and employee records, with discretion and in compliance with university guidelines.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    + Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Data Analytics, or related fields.

    + 3 or more years of experience in HR data reporting, data analysis, or a related analytical role at a diverse, multi-faceted organization.

     

    _Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration._

     

    Additional Requirements.

     

    + Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, advanced formulas) and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).

    + Experience with HRIS systems (Workday preferred) and SQL or other database querying tools.

    + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to synthesize complex datasets.

    + Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to present data clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

    DESIRED REQUIREMENTS

    + Experience in higher education or a large, matrixed organization.

    + Familiarity with compensation principles and practices, including market analysis and equity reviews.

    + Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

     

    Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

    Pay Range Minimum:

    $70,764.00 annual

    Pay Range Maximum:

    $106,140.00 annual
