Job Description
UW Facilities manages the University’s buildings, infrastructure and land, with more than 1,100 employees in a variety of fields. Our teams can be organized into six main groups: Asset Management, Operations, Finance & Administration, Real Estate, Campus Energy, Utilities & Operations, and Business Intelligence & Technology. The three major units include Finance & Administration group which includes finance, human resources, labor relations, payroll and training & organizational development, communications, and Campus Stewardship & Capital Budget. The Asset Management group includes Capital Architecture & Planning, Engineering Services, Project Delivery, and Sustainability. The Operations group includes Maintenance & Construction, Regulated Materials, Building Services Department, Transportation Services and Safety. Building Services delivers Custodial Services to the UW campus that provides exceptionally clean and sanitary environments for students, faculty, staff, and visitors and manages the comprehensive Recycling & Solid Waste Management program.
We have an outstanding opportunity for a Custodian to join the team and perform all custodial duties as required to provide clean and sanitary spaces.
Position Duties
+ Clean and sanitize restrooms/shower rooms and fixtures in accordance with established procedures and standards; refill restroom dispensers;
+ Clean chalkboards and erasers; dust and wipe furniture; sweep, mop or vacuum floors; empty wastebaskets, trash, and recycle containers; empty and clean ashtrays and cigarette urns; replace light bulbs;
+ Set-up and take down equipment, such as chalkboards and easels, and furnishings, such as folding chairs and tables needed for meetings, classrooms, conferences, and events;
+ Strip, clean, buff and apply finish to floors; use high speed floor buffers/polishers; vacuum and clean carpets;
+ Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools such as vacuum, broom, mop, squeegee, ladder for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, and furniture;
+ Lock and unlock buildings; secure building when facilities are not in use by checking for unlocked doors and windows; report unauthorized occupants;
+ Follow written and/or verbal instructions regarding the use of chemicals, supplies and equipment; comply with safety policies and procedures;
+ Report need for repair and/or maintenance;
+ May wash interior or easily accessible exterior windows;
+ May perform cleaning and related activities in areas within a reasonable distance from buildings using hand-operated tools or small power equipment to remove snow or debris, or sweeping sidewalks or stairs;
+ May move furniture, equipment, supplies and tools on an incidental basis;
+ May operate high-pressure washer;
+ Perform related duties as required.

Education & Experience
Required
+ Physical ability to do required work.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Additional Requirements
+ Possession of a valid Washington State Driver’s License or a license recognized as valid by the State of Washington.

+ Work Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday, 8:30 pm – 5:0 am
+ Must be able to work in a non-smoking environment
+ Regular and predictable attendance is required
+ Must be able to follow written and/or verbal instructions and communicate in English regarding the use of chemicals, supplies, and equipment; comply with safety policies and procedures.
Compensation, Benefits and Position Details
Pay Range Minimum:
$44,256.00 annual
Pay Range Maximum:
$49,740.00 annual
