    RESEARCH FELLOW

    Job Summary

    The University of Michigan is offering a postdoctoral research position to investigate cell and immunobiology of tissue fibrosis. This opportunity resides within a multi-disciplinary research program that couples clinical, computational and basic research, epitomizing our bench-to-bedside philosophy. The position will leverage a combination of cutting-edge techniques that include but are not limited to cellular and animal models, multi-omics and biochemical assays.

    Responsibilities*

    + Lead and manage the daily operations associated with the research project.

    + Participate in publications and presentations as author or co-author

    + Develop, adapt, and implement new research techniques and protocols

    + Design and perform experiments; keep appropriate experimental records and documentation

    + Analyze, interpret, summarize and compile data

    + Operate and maintain equipment and instruments

    + Develop figures, search scientific literature, assist in writing manuscripts, submit abstracts, and present data at local and national meetings

    + Perform routine animal procedures after appropriate training; and standard cell, biochemical and molecular biology assays

    + Spearhead new technologies and machine learning; and interact with collaborators and team members

    + Prepare data reports for weekly meeting with PI and bi-monthly reports for weekly lab meeting

    + Attend educational activities, such as relevant seminars and journal clubs

    + Other duties as assigned

    Required Qualifications*

    Candidates should have a recent PhD or MD, demonstrated intrinsic motivation, strong written and spoken communication skills. The position calls for robust knowledge and hands-on experience in cell and molecular biology, and an aptitude in computational tasks. Familiarity with advanced techniques such as single-cell and spatial RNA-sequencing, flow cytometry, Western blotting, and ELISA will be expected. Organizational skills, an eye for detail, and the capacity to work independently are vital traits for this role.Candidates must meet the eligibility requirements to work within the United States.

    Background Screening

     

    Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
