AI Specialist (Technical Leadership) - Product and Applied Research Responsibilities:
1. Help advance the science and technology of intelligent machines
2. Assist in goal setting related to project impact and system architecture
3. Develop custom/novel architectures, define use cases, and develop methodology & benchmarks to evaluate different approaches
4. Apply in-depth knowledge of how the machine learning system interacts with the other systems around it
5. Technically lead in a team environment across multiple scientific and engineering disciplines, making the architectural trade-offs required to rapidly deliver software solutions
6. Mentor other AI Engineers & improve the quality of AI work in the broader team
7. Drive the team's goals and technical direction to pursue opportunities that make your larger organization more efficient
8. Effectively communicate complex features and systems in detail
9. Develop clean readable code and debug complex problems that span systems
10. Understand industry & company-wide trends to help assess & develop new technologies
11. Partner & collaborate with organization leaders to help improve the level of performance of the team & organization
12. Identify new opportunities for the larger organization & influence the appropriate people for staffing/prioritizing these new ideas
13. Work on research projects, strategies, and problems of moderate to high complexity and scope. Can identify and define both short and medium term objectives
14. Influence progress of relevant research communities by producing publications
15. Establish connections with cross-functional partners and contribute research with the goal of applying to Meta's product development
16. Design policies, processes, procedures, methods, tests, and/or components, from the ground up for end-to-end systems
17. Apply in-depth knowledge of how the machine learning system interacts with the other systems around it
Minimum Qualifications:

18. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
19. Specialized experience in one or more of the following machine learning/deep learning domains: NLP, reinforcement learning, deep learning, recommendation systems, pattern recognition, signal processing, data mining, artificial intelligence, information retrieval or computer vision
20. Experience developing language algorithms or language infrastructure in C/C++ or Python

21. PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or relevant technical field
22. 4+ years of work experience post PhD in a university, industry, or government lab(s), in a role with primary emphasis on AI research
23. 4+ years of experience as technical lead for a project of 4 or more individuals
24. 4+ years of experience with developing scalable machine learning models in at least one of the following areas: Crawling, indexing, extraction, retrieval, ranking, recommendations, measurement, tooling, evaluation, query understanding, planning, vector databases, or embeddings
25. Experience with large scale model training, implementing algorithms, and evaluating systems
26. Experience bringing machine learning-based products from research to production
27. Experience solving complex problems and comparing alternative solutions, tradeoffs, and broad points of view to determine a path forward
28. Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment
29. First author publications experience at peer-reviewed AI conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, CVPR, ICML, ICLR, ICCV, and ACL)
Public Compensation:
$213,000/year to $293,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
