    **Summary** :

     

    The **HCS Dir Employee Relations** at UNC Health will be responsible for leading the creation and execution of employee relations strategies and programs cultivating a positive work environment, ensuring adherence to labor laws, and uphold UNC Health mission and values. This role will oversee a team of human resources professionals while optimizing the Employee Relations function across the healthcare system.

     

    **Responsibilities** :

    + Provide expert guidance and oversight of comprehensive Employee Relations strategy and programs ensuring ensure seamless coordination, compliance, and exceptional service delivery for teammates.

    + Ensure alignment with UNC Health business objectives and culture, resulting in integrated solutions for employee-related issues that are built and delivered in support of the department and organizational expectations.

    + Oversee the thorough investigation and resolution of complex employee issues fairly and consistently. Lead investigations at leadership level.

    + Develop and execute data-driven strategic roadmap to proactively address issues, mitigate risk, inform decision-making that is scalable across the healthcare system.

    + Partner with legal counsel to respond to employment-related litigation and regulatory matters.

    + Drive cross-functional collaboration with Legal, Compliance, HR Business Partners, and other stakeholders to ensure strong partnerships.

    + Manage and foster compliant and consistent administration of ADA, PWFA processes across the system.

    + Ensure compliance with labor laws, regulations, and company policies, and mitigate legal risks.

    + Develop, update, and implement HR policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and foster a positive workplace culture, compliant with laws and regulations including (ADA, PWFA, ADEA, FMLA, FLSA, EEOC, Title VII) as well as state and local applicable laws.

    + Drive accountability within and develop a team of ER professionals ensuring they are trained and equipped for their roles, adhere to industry best practices and are culture champions for UNC Health.

    + Support the development and tracking of employee relations metrics to identify and predict trends. Use these insights to proactively create programs and practices that address potential issues and optimize the employee experience.

    + Ensuring training and coaching to Employee Relations and HR staff, managers, and teammates on ER issues, company policies and relevant employment compliance issues.

    + Possess a high level of integrity and confidentiality.

    Education Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree required.

    • JD required.

    Licensure/Certification Requirements:

    • None required.

    Professional Experience Requirements:

    • Requires ten (10) years of experience to include five (5) years of experience managing an employee relations team.

    • Hands-on investigations experience, including employee interviews, investigative data analysis, and production of investigative documentation.

    • Extensive experience with employment and human resources related laws, regulations, policies, principles, concepts and practices.

    • Experience in employee relations investigations providing an evidence based, customer-first approach to work and thriving in a fast-paced business environment.

    Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:

    • Demonstrated leadership experience. Excellent verbal, written communication, and presentation skills.

    • Experience with building a team and developing others.

    • Proven ability designing and administering scalable employee relations and compliance related processes and programs that drive change.

    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence at all levels of the organization.

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.

    • Familiarity with HR/ER technology.

    This position is employed by NC Health (Rex Healthcare, Inc., d/b/a NC Health), a private, fully-owned subsidiary of UNC Health Care System, in a department that provides shared services to operations across UNC Health Care; except that, if you are currently a UNCHCS State employee already working in a designated shared services department, you may remain a UNCHCS State employee if selected for this job.
