    The Dental Assistant provides technical assistance during dental procedures and examinations according to established protocol and procedures and supports specialists in Endodontics, Prosthodontics, Periodontics or Orthodontists.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Patient Interaction and Care:

    + Greet, direct, and escort patients, providing routine information about procedures.

    + Calm and soothe anxious or uncooperative patients throughout their treatment.

    + Clinical Session Preparation and Assistance:

    + Review schedules and planned procedures with providers.

    + Prepare rooms, instruments, and materials for scheduled treatments and assist during procedures.

    + Impressions and Imaging:

    + Take dental impressions, produce study models, and handle lab case logistics.

    + Take, develop, and manage dental radiographs and digital photographs, ensuring quality standards are met.

    + Record Keeping and Charting:

    + Chart teeth and conditions in the electronic dental record as directed by the provider.

    + Maintenance and Supply Management:

    + Maintain cleanliness and sterility of patient areas and instruments.

    + Monitor equipment, report issues, and ensure treatment rooms are well-stocked and equipped

    Requirements

    + Education:

    + High School diploma or equivalent

    + License & Certification:

    + Completion of a CODA Accredited Program Certificate

    + Current Massachusetts license as a Dental Assistant

    + BLS certification or CPR/AED certification

    + Board approved examination for DANB Radiation Health and Safety RHS required within 60 days of hire

    Experience

    + At least one year of experience working in a Dental Clinic is preferred. Experience working in a Pediatric Dental Practice is highly desirable.
