    POSITION SUMMARY

    This position works collaboratively with operations to provide routine route optimiatzations, support route updates, manage existing routes within a route management system and develops routes needed for special projects. This position will perform all necessary duties of various Logistics positions at a high level to meet Logistics department needs and the needs of our clients and may be responsible for a technical and/or administrative area of focus.

     

    _Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards._

    CORE FUNCTIONS

    1. Develops specific routes and monitors changes in traffic patterns due to growth, road construction and plans contingencies around weather events and other potential safety concerns. Focuses on service improvements and route efficiency to drive an exceptional customer experience.

    2. Supports the evaluation, selection and application of software solutions and performs the workflow analysis to support those decisions. Provides support in defining business requirements while testing and further implementing the solutions.

    3. Relies upon a data-driven, decision-making strategy while researching and analyzing maps, routes, route metrics and data in support of project initiatives and is responsible for maintaining routing and mapping within the route optimization and dispatch system(s).

    4. Prepares, updates, and maintains technical documentation, files, and records; manages and maintains databases and related information tracking. Provides data by monitoring system/operational performance measures and researches and evaluates processes.

    5. Acts as subject matter expert in support of route optimization and the effectiveness of those deployed solutions by developing reports and providing analysis.

    6. Provides on-site research, troubleshoots, and identifies complex technical issues/analyzes issues and processes and provides resource materials for reference and operational support.

    In the absence of the supervisor shall assume those duties and responsibilities.

    TYPE OF SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Operational oversight which includes coaching, training, scheduling, work assignments, etc.

    SCOPE AND COMPLEXITY

    Department level responsibility. Provides service for internal and external customers. Utilizes advanced knowledge and skills in the various Logistics tools to effectively meet the needs of clients.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENT FACTORS

    Job involves frequent communication in person, by phone or radio, and in writing, driving a car for long periods of time and making frequent stops for pickup and delivery. Ability to lift, push and carry up to 50 pounds.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    + Route Optimization

    + Organizing, prioritizing, assigning, and monitoring work

    + Principles and applications of critical thinking and analysis.

    + Project management and Customer service principles.

    + Lean experience.

    + Logistics software implementation.

    + Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and prioritize multiple projects.

    + Demonstrated analytical skills.

    + Proficient in use of sophisticated transportation management software (TMS) programs

    + Excellent human relations, organizational and communication skills.

    + Knowledge of MS Word and Excel.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    + Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.

    + Four (4) years of logistics acumen and route planning experience.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    + Additional related education and/or experience.
