Electrical Engineer – Chemical Manufacturing

About the Role
Join a leading chemical manufacturer as an Electrical Engineer, where your expertise will drive innovation, reliability, and efficiency across our operations. This is a hands-on role that blends technical design, troubleshooting, and project coordination. You’ll collaborate closely with controls engineers and plant teams to support multiple product lines and enhance process performance.
Key Responsibilities
+ Design and maintain electrical systems for chemical plant processes to ensure safe, reliable, and continuous operation.
+ Troubleshoot electrical issues and develop preventative maintenance strategies.
+ Provide expert input on substation design and troubleshooting.
+ Partner with controls engineers to execute projects and meet customer expectations.
+ Manage customer inquiries related to scheduling, costs, and project milestones.
+ Recommend and oversee solutions for electrical system repairs.
+ Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and safety regulations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
+ 3–5 years of experience in electrical engineering, power distribution, and process engineering.
+ Strong proficiency in electrical design, project management, and load estimation for single and three-phase systems.
+ Knowledge of UL508, NEC, and hazardous area classifications (Class 1 & 2, Div 1 & 2).
+ Experience with control panel design, motor control centers, and VFDs.
Preferred Skills
+ Proficiency in Microstation or AutoCAD.
+ Familiarity with control system architectures and industrial networking (ModBus RTU/TCP).
+ Experience with PLC, HMI, and Distributed Control Systems (preferably DeltaV).
+ Understanding of instrumentation design and process control systems, including packaging line designs.
Work Environment
+ Based primarily in the corporate office with regular visits to the plant and substations.
+ Collaborative work with design teams, plant managers, and engineering staff.

Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Sauget, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $75.00/hr.
