    Job Title: Plant Project Engineer

    Job Description

    We are seeking a dedicated Plant Project Engineer to lead and support various projects including capital improvement, equipment installation, utility upgrades, and infrastructure initiatives from concept through execution. The ideal candidate will ensure all engineering activities comply with applicable cGMP, safety, and environmental standards, while providing technical support across manufacturing, maintenance, and quality teams.

    Responsibilities

    + Lead and support capital improvement, equipment installation, utility upgrades, and infrastructure projects from concept through execution.

    + Ensure all engineering activities meet applicable cGMP, safety, and environmental compliance requirements.

    + Provide technical support to manufacturing, maintenance, and quality teams in troubleshooting equipment or process issues.

    + Develop detailed project plans, budgets, and schedules; manage vendors and contractors to meet performance targets.

    + Prepare engineering documentation including design specifications, drawings, change controls, and commissioning/qualification protocols.

    + Assist in maintaining the site’s equipment lifecycle documentation and plant layout drawings.

    + Identify and implement improvements to equipment performance, energy efficiency, and process safety.

    + Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Facilities, and Validation to ensure operational readiness.

    + Support inspections, audits, and validation activities related to engineering systems and projects.

    + Maintain awareness of new technologies.

    Essential Skills

    + Project management

    + Working knowledge of cGMP regulations, equipment qualification, and validation practices.

    + Proven experience in capital project execution, utility systems (e.g., HVAC, water, gases), and process equipment.

    + Proficiency with CAD software, project management tools, and Microsoft Office.

    + Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

    + Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.

     

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

     

    + Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or related Engineering discipline.

    + 3–7 years of engineering experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or other regulated manufacturing environment.

    + Competencies in Project Management, Technical Problem Solving, Regulatory Compliance (cGMP, safety, environmental), Cross-Functional Collaboration, and Equipment and Process Optimization.

    Work Environment

    This role may be based in an office, laboratory, or GMP manufacturing environment, depending on the position. Office-based employees primarily work at a computer in a standard office setting, while lab and manufacturing roles may require work in controlled environments with appropriate gowning and PPE. Physical demands may include prolonged sitting or standing, frequent movement between work areas, and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. Tasks may involve repetitive activities such as pipetting, weighing, and data entry. There may be exposure to chemicals, equipment noise, or temperature-controlled environments in lab or production settings. Occasional evening work may be required.

    This is a Permanent position based out of Torrance, CA.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
