Description

A well-established private higher education institution in San Marcos is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to support the finance and administrative division. This role offers a stable, mission-driven work environment and the chance to contribute to the success of an organization dedicated to learning and community service. The ideal candidate is organized, deadline-focused, and comfortable handling a variety of accounting functions in a collaborative office setting.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Maintain the general ledger and assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings.

+ Prepare bank reconciliations, journal entries, and account analyses.

+ Track and reconcile grants, scholarships, and departmental budgets.

+ Assist with year-end audits and regulatory compliance reports.

+ Reconcile payroll and benefits-related accounts.

+ Support budget preparation and variance analysis.

+ Prepare financial statements and assist with management reporting.

+ Utilize Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) or similar ERP software.

Requirements

+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.

+ 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in education or nonprofit settings.

+ Strong knowledge of GAAP and fund accounting principles.

+ Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP, Ellucian, or NetSuite preferred.

+ Excellent Excel and data reconciliation skills.

+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
