Job Title: Printing Press Operator
Job Description
Perform complex operations required to set up, operate, and feed cylinder type printing press to produce a variety of items. Operate the printing press according to company printing procedures and guidelines while ensuring quality and safety.
Responsibilities
+ Direct Press Helper following company printing and safety procedures.
+ Set up jobs in the press and monitor the quality of the print as the press is running.
+ Communicate pertinent matters of the job with the press operator from the opposite shift.
+ Check first piece conformance to specifications.
+ Perform daily and periodic preventative maintenance duties specified for assigned machines/equipment.
+ Maintain cleanliness of machines/equipment and adjacent work area.
+ Utilize satellite containers for Hazardous Waste.
+ Generate hazardous waste as part of the production process.
+ Refer difficulties to group leader or supervisor for analysis and/or remedy.
+ Ensure regular, consistent attendance and punctuality.
+ Follow equipment and workplace cleaning/sanitation procedures, completing the Sanitation Checklist.
+ Conduct and document all quality checks for intermediate products.
+ Follow CCP monitoring procedures and report all food safety violations to management.
+ Participate in performance system activities such as 5Star, Pillar Teams, and audits.
+ Adhere to all safety rules and other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
+ Experience with printing press, printing, flexography, manufacturing process.
+ Knowledge of GMP and SOP.
+ Machine operation, blueprint reading, and troubleshooting skills.
+ Proficiency in packing and print press operations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Mechanical aptitude and good math skills.
+ Ability to speak, read, and write English.
+ Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and perform moderate to heavy physical effort.
+ Good communication skills.
+ Continuous mental and visual attention required.
+ Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required.
+ Training required on eight to eleven color presses.
+ Knowledge of process printing, including screen angles, inks, solvents, and aniloxes.
+ Understanding types of hazardous waste and the correct use of storage containers.
+ Proper identification and labeling of hazardous waste.
+ Ability to achieve high-quality standards.

Work Environment
The work takes place in a 500,000 square foot facility where safety is a top priority. The environment is extremely clean and well-organized, with a strong tenured workforce. You will be working with updated machinery and equipment in departments including print, lamination, slitting, warehouse, and maintenance. Dress code includes GMP, safety shoes, hair net, ear plugs, and safety glasses. The average employee tenure is 15 years, offering a wealth of knowledge to be shared.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elk Grove Village, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $34.24 - $34.24/hr.
