JOB PURPOSE:

The Sterilization Tech will support the dentist, and team, in providing quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to work independently, sterilize and maintain instruments, equipment, set up and break down of treatment areas, and providing a clean and professional environment in general spaces

Salary: $19-22 per hour

Primary Duties

+ Setting up and breaking down sterilization area beginning and end of day, as well as making sure all instruments are processing before leaving for lunch.

+ Breaking down, cleaning, and setting up operatories between patients; (both treatment rooms and hygiene rooms) monitoring who may be behind to help them get the rooms turned around.

+ Clean supplies, equipment, instruments, and instrument trays, following standard precautions for decontamination.

+ Running instruments through ultrasonic and sterilizer machines, keeping sterile area clean and organized.

+ Sterilize and disinfect dental instruments properly: must remove all organic and inorganic materials from dental instruments before sterilization process.

Secondary Duties

+ Responsible for monthly maintenance of all sterilization equipment, hand pieces, hand piece motors, suction and traps.

+ Test sterilization equipment weekly to ensure proper functionality

+ Run suction lines weekly in all treatment and hygiene rooms

+ Change traps in all operatories once a week

+ Keep stockroom organized, putting away supplies when they come in and monitoring stock, noting when low on supplies

+ Stocking all operatories and designated sterilization area(s).

+ Help assist in bringing patients back, taking photographs and impressions and/or scans when needed.
