    Public Works Administration is looking for a fun, energetic, highly organized individual to provide advanced human resource support in the areas of office administrative support and recruiting. This position will be responsible for assisting with the creation of job postings, advertisements, screening applications, and coordination of interview panels, as examples.

    Examples of Duties Performed - Duties may include but are not limited to the following

     

    Provides complex confidential support including recruitment, hiring, and general administrative office support for the Public Works Human Resources division. Acts as initial department contact for human resource-related recruitment and hiring inquiries from managers, supervisors, employees, and applicants. Provides general administrative office support to the Public Works Human Resource team.

     

    Independently composes and prepares correspondence including confidential information in memos, letters, exercises, interview questions, and supplemental questionnaires.

     

    Assists with recruitment planning and outreach strategies, developing postings, advising and coaching on selection criteria, providing direction with protocol and procedure, screens applications for minimum qualifications, supporting supervisors with coordination of interview panels and testing procedures, participates on panels, provides policies and procedures around selection processes and decisions, and briefs and debriefs interview panels.

     

    Provides administrative support to the Public Works Human Resource Team.

     

    Performs other duties as assigned.

    Experience:

    Requires specialized paraprofessional experience with some college course work (or equivalent experience).

    The Ideal Candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

    Knowledge:

    Policies and procedures related to human resource management.

     

    Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, ordinances and rules, as they relate to human resource management and public employment.

     

    Administrative office practices, procedures and equipment. Research methods, techniques, and procedures.

     

    Business English, composition, letter formatting and report preparation.

    Skill in:

    Communication, both verbal and written, to work with City staff, the public, and agencies using courtesy, tact and good judgment to provide clear information on departmental policies, procedures and practices.

     

    Effective methods in preparing and presenting facts and information.

    Ability to:

    Perform a variety of administrative support duties with minimal supervision and exercise independent professional judgment and a high level of discretion.

     

    Work efficiently, accurately, and thoroughly with close attention to detail and ability to prioritize assignments.

     

    Solicit, organize, analyze, and present materials for internal and external uses. Handle multiple priorities, follow written and oral instructions and organize work to meet deadlines. Work with conflicting deadlines with the ability to quickly reprioritize work demands as necessary.

     

    Perform complex research, organize data, audit information, and prepare reports on a variety of issues, analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and recommend solutions in support of goals.

     

    Interpret and apply program/department information and guidelines in making work decisions, or in providing information to others.

    What to Expect from our Selection Process: Applicants are screened based upon their relevant knowledge, abilities, skills, experience, and training.
