    Job Title: Quality Control SpecialistDepartment: UH Laboratory Location: Unity Hospital Hours Per Week: Full-Time, 40 hours/weekSchedule: Monday - Friday, 8a-4p SUMMARY:The Quality Control Specialist is responsible for the oversight and management of quality control standards for the Core Laboratory in the U.S. The Quality Control Specialist will work collaboratively with the Director of Laboratory Operations and department managers to ensure quality and best practices in the laboratory.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Regulatory. Maintains a current understanding of all applicable regulations, requirements and standards in regards to quality control processes. Performs all work in accordance with requirements of regulatory agencies such as CAP, NYSDOH, CLIA, OSHA, and SAMHSA.

    + Quality. Participates in quality control investigations, corrective actions, and process improvements for the laboratory; including, but not limited to, routine QC review, proficiency testing review, analytical measurement range and calibration verifications, and comparability of methods. Works with laboratory managers to develop and maintain quality dashboards, quality monitors, regulatory (CAP, NYSDOH) related tasks, key performance indicators and compliance. Participates in regulatory inspections and client audits. Provides input to appropriate resolution of audit/inspection findings in a timely and effective manner.

    + Training. Supports laboratory leadership in developing and updating standard operating procedures, ensuring quality and regulatory compliance are present. Obtains a minimum of twelve hours of continuing education hours annually. Maintains competency in appropriate areas of the laboratory and ensures completion of annual and semi-annual competency assessments of all applicable employees in the Core Laboratory.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science or equivalent required.

    + 6 years’ of experience as a Medical Technologist required.

    + New York State Department of Education Clinical Laboratory Technologist license required.

    + Certification by a national certification agency preferred (i.e. ASCP, NCA, or AMT).

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    S - Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

    $70,000.00 - $100,000.00

    The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
