Scope of Job
The GRA principal duty is to contribute to a program of research. The research assistant will focus on the intersection of computer science, linguistics, and national security, with typical duties including:
+ Data Acquisition and Preprocessing:Collect, clean, and organize large-scale, open-source textual data (e.g., social media, news reports) relevant to global security and intelligence challenges.
+ Computational Modeling Support:Work with the Principal Investigator (PI) to implement and testNatural Language Processing ( NLP )techniques, such astopic modelingandsentiment analysis, usingPythonand related libraries.
+ Analysis and Visualization:Analyze model results, identify language patterns, and assist in creating data visualizations for research findings.
+ Documentation:Maintain meticulous records of methodology, code, data sources, and assist in preparing reports and presentations.
+ Appropriate Service:Advanced research assistants may engage in carrying out independent research under faculty guidance.

Minimum Qualifications:
+ Must be agraduate student at UTRGV ( MPA student)
+ Must be in good academic standing
+ GPA at least 2.8
Preferred Qualifications
+ Preferred majors are in the Social Sciences.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Salary$1450 monthly wages
