    Job Summary and Description:

    EPRI is seeking engineers, scientists, subject matter experts, and other technical leaders to join the Transmission and Distribution research team (T&D). The T&D asset team focuses on new technologies, innovative solutions, and technical investigations that help shape the future of the power grid worldwide.

     

    The T&D system is in a period of significant growth, which is driving fast-paced innovation on the grid. Our teams work to understand how new technologies can be deployed on the grid to create the most value. Our work takes many forms, depending on the project, including laboratory testing, data analytics, and field testing.

     

    Candidates applying to this position would be joining our existing team of 70+ researchers focused on high-voltage transmission (overhead and underground), substations, medium-voltage distribution, inspection methods, and data analytics of power grid assets. We are a multidisciplinary team, with diverse backgrounds and specialties.

     

    Our team works with more than 100 utilities and other grid professionals worldwide to identify research needs, execute projects, and implement results.

    We are looking for candidates with expertise in one or more of the following topics:

    + Line design, standards engineering, power electronics, cable systems, transformers, protection & control, arresters, insulators, distribution automation, conductor systems, structural design, vegetation management, wildfire management, resilience, wildlife interactions, HVDC, grid components, data science, applied analytics, or power system inspection.

    An ideal candidate would have some combination of the following skills:

    + A degree in engineering or another related scientific field, with advanced degrees preferred

    + Experience working in utility environments

    + Experience executing multiple complex projects simultaneously

    + A customer-focused mindset

    + Experience working around high voltage and in laboratories

    + Ability to develop research concepts to solve real-world problems

    + Experience in data science and analytical techniques

    + Ability to document and communicate technical topics, including technical reports and presentations

     

    While the preferred location for this role is Charlotte, NC, we are open to considering remote candidates based on experience and qualifications.

    _T_ _he listed salary range is not a precise reflection for any individual hire, as we are hiring for multiple roles. Final compensation will be based on each candidate’s background, experience, and qualifications._

     

    The salary range for this position is $120,000 USD to $165,000 USD annually.

     

    This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on various factors, including without limitation applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

     

    This role is eligible to participate in EPRI’s annual incentive program. The amount of incentive varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the plan.

     

    This role is eligible to participate in EPRI’s standard employee benefit programs, which currently include the following: medical, dental, vision, 401k, STD/LTD and paid family leave, life and accident insurance, paid time off (flexible vacation, sick leave, and holiday pay).

     

    EPRI participates in E-Verify, an online system operated jointly by the Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration (SSA).
