WHAT WILL I BE DOING?
CHI is looking for a full-time Recreation Child Care Supervisor for our Smithtown location. You will be responsible for running and overseeing recreational, educational, and day care needs of the family shelter. This position is an excellent opportunity to develop new curriculum plans for the children. This is accomplished by performing the following functions:
+ Supervise Recreation/Education Specialists and/or Child Care Workers.
+ Conduct 1 to 1 meetings with members of your team and update the performance goals, accomplishments, notes, and feedback in Paycom on a regular basis (weekly/bi-weekly).
+ Assess, plan, implement, and coordinate educational needs of children and adults.
+ Assist children and families with school and summer camp enrollment.
+ Develop programs to enhance academic performance such as tutoring and homework assistance.
+ Work cohesively with team to assist in agency-wide trips and events for children and families.
+ Assist adults with meeting vocational and/or employment goals.
+ Responsible for all educational and vocational needs of shelter to include bringing in adult programs.
+ Solicit donations in coordination with supervisor.
+ Seek and act as a liaison with schools, community agencies and resources.
+ Plan, organize, implement, and coordinate facility activities and recreational programs after school, on weekends, and on school breaks. Provide transportation in accordance with agency protocols as needed.
+ Perform outreach to community resources.
+ Track programs and expenses, reporting accordingly.

+ Salary: $64,350 annually. Exempt
+ Open shifts: Tuesday - Saturday, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
WHAT DO I NEED?
Education:Bachelor's Degree in Education/Human Relations preferred. Extensive experience may be substituted for educational requirement.
Experience:Experience in education, specifically with children, required. Knowledge of community resources required. One to two years’ experience in homelessness, housing, human services, or a related field preferred. Experience working with disabled persons, mentally ill, crisis intervention skills and developmental education knowledge is a plus.
Certificates or Licenses:Valid driver’s license.
Insurance:Valid automobile insurance.
Communication:Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in English required. Bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus.
Computer Skills:Basic competency in MS Windows, MS Office, and internet usage.
Physical Performance:Ability to tour property, walk distances, and climb stairs, etc.
Reasoning Ability:Ability to prioritize, make appropriate decisions and judgment calls.
Other Skills:Ability to work independently or as part of a team, be highly organized, assume responsibility, work well under pressure, meet deadlines, multitask, be flexible, and maintain a high level of attention to details. Must be even-tempered, have good negotiation skills, and the ability to meet unexpected deadlines.
Other Requirements:Must have reliable transportation.
