    ELA Tutor (English Language Arts) – Worcester County AreaServing Shrewsbury, Westborough, Northborough, Grafton, and Southborough Tutor Doctor SWNGS provides one-to-one, in-home tutoring customized to meet the unique needs of each student. Our Education Consultant meets with every family to develop a personalized academic plan—so you’ll know exactly what each student needs to succeed. Responsibilities * Provide one-on-one tutoring sessions focused on reading comprehension, writing, grammar, and vocabulary. * Teach critical reading and argumentation skills, helping students analyze texts, identify evidence, and form logical arguments. * Help students improve communication and speaking skills, including oral presentations, discussions, and confidence in expressing ideas clearly. * Assess students’ strengths and areas for growth to create individualized lesson plans for elementary, middle, and high school students. * Guide students in essay writing, literary analysis, and critical thinking. * Monitor and share progress with parents/guardians regularly. * Collaborate with parents and teachers to align tutoring goals with classroom expectations. * Use diverse teaching strategies and materials (literature, writing prompts, digital tools, etc.) to keep sessions engaging and effective. * Create a positive, motivating environment that builds students’ confidence and love for learning. Qualifications * Previous experience working with children, ideally in an educational or tutoring setting. * Strong command of English grammar, writing, and reading comprehension. * Ability to teach critical reading, argumentation, and communication skills effectively. * Experience with students with special education needs is a plus. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to plan engaging, student-centered lessons. * Relevant degree or teaching certification preferred.
