    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Peer Support Specialist Supervisor oversees a team of Peer Support Specialists who use their lived experience with substance use and/or mental health recovery to support individuals working toward recovery. This role provides supervision, training, professional development, and guidance to ensure high-quality, ethical, and culturally responsive peer support services. The Supervisor helps maintain program fidelity, compliance, data reporting, and community relationships while fostering a recovery-oriented environment.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    + Provide ongoing direct supervision, coaching, and performance evaluation for assigned Peer Recovery Support Specialists.

    + Provide guidance and support to all Peer Recovery Support Specialists in the region.

    + Oversee and implement monthly Peer Support meetings for the region.

    + Oversee caseload distribution and workflow to ensure efficient and effective delivery of peer support services.

    + Ensure services are delivered in accordance with organizational policies, certification standards, and ethical guidelines.

    + Provide training, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for PRSS staff.

    + Review documentation and case notes for accuracy, quality, and compliance with funding requirements.

    + Assist staff in crisis intervention, boundary setting, and navigating difficult client interactions.

    + Support the coordination of recovery support groups, outreach activities, and interventions.

    + Maintain strong working relationships with partner agencies, community resources, and internal departments.

    + Assist with hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and disciplinary processes for assigned Peer Support Specialists.

    + Monitor outcomes, collect service data, and assist with reporting to leadership and funders.

    + Uphold recovery-oriented values including empowerment, self-determination, trauma-informed care, and cultural humility.

    + Advocate for peer services within the organization and community.

    + Maintain confidentiality according to HIPAA and other applicable regulations.

    + Must Embrace and embody the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision, and goals of WestCare Foundation.

    + Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Understanding to talk to and communicate with clients in an effective and appropriate manner.

    + Adherence to the highest standard of ethical conduct, especially to standards governing confidentiality.

    + Understanding of peer support values, ethics, and best practices.

    + Ability to establish rapport while maintaining professional boundaries.

    + Skill in case documentation, time management, and prioritization.

    + Ability to model healthy behavior and positive coping strategies.

    + Crisis management and de-escalation skills.

    + Professional appearance and demeanor.

    + Must be /linguistically sensitive to populations served.

    + During your tenure with WestCare there may be new requirements, including, but not limited to vaccinations that are issued by local, State, Federal, and/or Funders that WestCare may have to comply with. Should this occur Human Resources or appropriate personnel will inform you.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

    + Lived experience and personal recovery from substance use disorders.

    + At least 1-2 years’ experience in the Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist role.

    + High School diploma or is equivalent is required.

    + Must be able to pass a Level II DCF background check.

    + Previous supervisory experience preferred.

    LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

    + Current Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist

    + Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain and maintain WestCare’s vehicle insurance is required.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    + Work is primarily performed in an office or in hospital/treatment setting.

    + Travel throughout and around the community and outreach is required.

    + This position may require flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate client needs and community events.
