    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Helper Class B 0-6 Months Line

     

    Union $28.64 Per Hour

     

    DUTIES: Under general directive supervision of journeyman.

     

    Performs very routine and general duties by assisting line construction crews on assignment. Receives oral instruction with work checked intermittently by supervisor or employees holding higher classification; does not climb poles.

     

    Receives instruction on the operation of handline, tying knots, and the various tools used by lineman in construction and maintenance projects.

     

    Becomes familiar with line construction materials and equipment; secures materials and tools properly and sends up to lineman by means of handline.

     

    Assists in the loading and unloading of line materials on trucks and trailers; learns to properly store equipment on truck for safekeeping purposes.

     

    Performs various housekeeping duties by cleaning construction areas of refuse, salvage material, etc., and maintains a state of cleanliness and orderly condition.

     

    Receives safety instructions as to work methods and procedures and complies with all safety standards as required; receives first aid instruction and must be proficient in administering first aid to injured persons.

     

    Assists lineman to install underground cable, secondary pedestals, and transformers.

     

    Performs other related and assigned duties.
