Description
The University of Rochester School of Nursing (URSON) is seeking a faculty candidate for a clinical faculty position on our Simulation Team. Candidates must have a RN license and experience with professional nursing education, education technology, and program development.
The School of Nursing offers nationally accredited baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral degree programs. One of a small number of nursing schools to be designated as an Apple Distinguished School and endorsed by International Nursing Association for Clinical and Simulation Learning (INACSL), the University of Rochester School of Nursing prepares nurses to meet the challenges of healthcare in the twenty-first century.
The Unification Model directs nursing education, research, and practice. Unification is not only a philosophical approach but also an organizational structure that operationalizes the interdependence among education, research, and practice. Education empowers nurses with knowledge, attitudes, and skills for leadership in professional practice and research. Research develops nursing knowledge to strengthen education and promote evidence-based practice. The practice of nursing is care delivery that promotes continued excellence through the generation of new research questions and the enrichment of the educational experience. The ongoing interaction of education, research, and practice advances the discipline of nursing and the health of our nation.
Faculty on the Simulation Team must be self-directed, creative, and an empowered educator who embraces innovation while upholding a psychologically safe experiential learning environment throughout the URSON. The simulation educator will cultivate opportunities for collaborative learning, faculty professional development, and pedagogically sound teaching practices related to simulation, and engage with faculty across all programs to foster synergistic partnerships that allow for interprofessional education initiatives while maintaining efficient resource utilization. The simulation educator influences positive evidence-based changes through supportive leadership, mentoring, and effective team communication, and possesses the ability to strategically design, implement, facilitate, and debrief a variety of simulations that foster self-reflection and develop critical thinking skills to meet the diverse learning needs of our students.
Specific Responsibilities
• Ensure consistent planning and delivery of simulated learning activities across multiple courses and programs (utilize standard NLN template for all scenarios).
• Actively engage in ongoing professional development for the simulation educator role; Work towards CHSE certification.
• Actively disseminates best practices at URSON through involvement in professional simulation organizations, publications, conferences, etc.
• Facilitate evidence-based pre-briefing/debriefing using a standardized framework, Promoting Excellence and Reflective Learning in Simulation (PEARLS).
• Work closely with content experts, course faculty, instructional design team, sim techs, and Information Technology (IT) to achieve efficient, high-quality, and seamless simulation operations.
• Integrate meaningful educational technologies that are informed by current evidence and driven by our curriculum and student learning needs (i.e., Simulation IQ platform, high-fidelity simulators, virtual reality simulation, Docucare, etc.)
• Cultivate a dynamic, psychologically safe learning environment that supports student success.
• Assume accountability for consistent delivery of high-quality, innovative simulated learning activities
• Communicate professionally with all members of the SON community
• Actively engage in ongoing education-related scholarship including dissemination of best practices and use of simulation-based learning to advance competency-based education.
Qualifications
Qualifications
• Master’s degree in nursing
• Current NYS RN licensure
• Superior interpersonal skills with different levels of students, peers, and supervisors
• Complete all agency requirements for clinical faculty compliance and credentialing
Preferred Qualifications
• Doctoral degree
• Prior teaching experience
