Position Summary...
What you'll do...
We are seeking a **Staff, Software Engineer** with expertise in **Backend** development, including foundational technologies and patterns used in Enterprise Inventory. This platform is a multi-tenant framework that is the single source of truth for all inventory data in Mexico, Canada, and other Walmart International sites. The team drives innovation in ensure real-time access to accurate inventory information used throughout Walmart’s critical systems.
About Team:
Focusing on customer, associate and business needs, this team works with Walmart International, which includes more than 5,200 retail units, operating in 23 countries such as Canada, Central America, Chile, China, India, Mexico and South Africa to name a few.
What you'll do:
+ Interact with Walmart engineering teams across geographies to leverage expertise and contribute to the tech community.
+ Engage with Product Management and Business to drive the agenda, set your priorities, and deliver awesome products
+ Work closely with Distinguished & Principal Architects and cross-functional teams and follow established practices for the delivery of solutions meeting QCD (Quality, Cost, and Delivery) within the established architectural guidelines
+ Participate in hiring and building teams enabling them to be high-performing agile teams
+ You will work with engineering teams to create high-level and low-level designs and drive designs
+ You will come up with quality, best practices, and other Non-functional standards and guide the teams to execute them along with helping them with overall technical and design aspects
+ You will help implement cutting-edge models and algorithms that operate on massive amounts of data and Interact with Walmart cross cross-functional engineering teams like cloud, platform, analytics, etc. across geographies to leverage technical expertise and contribute to the engineering community.
What you'll bring:
+ At least 10 professional software development with expertise in backend systems; proven track record of leading architecture for distributed platforms.
+ Deep proficiency in Java (JDK 21), Spring Boot, Kafka, Cassandra, and large-scale data processing frameworks (Spark, Airflow).
+ Strong background in designing multi-tenant, cloud-native systems (Azure/GCP) with emphasis on scalability, performance, and reliability.
+ Adept at breaking down complex problems into actionable solutions while balancing trade-offs across performance, cost, and delivery speed.
+ Ownership-driven, passionate about technology, eager to learn and experiment with emerging paradigms (AI workflows/agents, automation).
+ Strong understanding SQL & SQL tuning.
+ Excellent communication skills with ability to influence, align, and partner with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders globally.
+ Strong creative, collaboration and communication skills
+ Familiarity with CI/CD, unit testing, automated frontend testing
+ Build high quality code by conducting unit testing and enhancing design to prevent re-occurrences of defects.

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $220,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
