    Job Summary and Qualifications

     

    This leadership role will oversee finance, analytics, vendor relations and absence management teams with a focus on employee benefits strategy, comprehensive analytics and operational excellence. The AVP will lead development of employee benefits strategy that leverages vendor partnerships, consulting, technology and analytics to promote employee retention and engagement.

    Strategy, Finance and Analytics

    + Provide strategic direction on all benefit plan design and financial modeling to manage $6+ billion in plan expense and align strategies with overall targets set by executive leadership.

    + Develop presentations to facilitate meetings and review proposed changes with Sr Leadership for the Benefits Steering Committee, Benefits Oversight and Plan Administration Committees.

    + Oversee Request for Proposals (RFPs) processes to evaluate third party vendor’s health and group product offerings and pricing competitiveness; identify cost reduction opportunities and ensure added value for HCA and our colleagues.

    + Lead team that facilitates annual health plan TPA selection and negotiation process for all medical and dental plan offerings, which involves synchronization of benefits COE, consultants and vendors, HR Business Partners and colleagues.

    + Review benefits portfolio with HR leadership, explore enhancements and establish timelines for regular plan and rate reviews; Facilitate vendor negotiation of all Health and Group products including Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Long Term Disability, Stop Loss, CorePlus Voluntary Benefits, Supplemental Health and other related offerings.

    + Leverage employee benefits statistics and industry benchmarking to assure that HCA Healthcare Benefit Programs are both competitive and cost effective. Publish quarterly and annual reports that highlight key performance indicators, as appropriate.

    + Maintain overall accountability for budgeting and expense practices for Health and Group products including the monthly allocation of $230 million to facilities and the quarterly incurred but not reported (IBNR) requirements. Coordinate with Accounting leadership as appropriate.

    + Develop competitive programs and services to meet company goals and support all lines of business, including the 501(a) plans.

    + Oversee strategy to support mergers, acquisitions and divestitures.

    Time Away From Work

    + Direct the operations and strategy for $1.5B expense Absence Management Program (Time Away From Work) consisting of all leaves, including FMLA leaves, Short-Term and Long-Term Disability, Life Insurance, Paid Family Leave, Extended Illness Bank and Paid Time Off.

    + Oversee the management of electronic file integration of leave/absence management data with Lawson, Kronos and vendor partners and Workers’ Compensation.

    + Oversee compliance with state leave laws and integration into existing plans.

    + Participate in the development and financial monitoring of HCA’s Time Away from Work Program.

    Health and Group Vendor Relations

    + Oversee Health and Group benefit vendor relationships.

    + Monitor and manager vendor’s service delivery and adherence to best practices, performance guarantees and service level agreements.

    + Oversee operations of Health & Group plans including claims administration and employee appeals process.

    + Work with internal and external partners to design robust benefits measurement tools that align with established HCA Operations performance protocols. Align with industry best practices to audit vendor performance.

    Qualifications:

    + A minimum of 10 years of experience working in the field of healthcare data analysis, finance and/or operations (Insurance, Consulting, etc.)

    + Managerial experience

    + Strong financial and cost accounting knowledge

    + Bachelor’s Degree Required
