    Job Summary and Qualifications

     

    As the Coding Manager, you will be responsible for assisting in the development and evolution of the overall strategy for the company’s coding operations in the Health Information Management Service Center (HSC). You will manage, direct, and coordinate the coding activities for the HSC while driving strategic initiatives for overall company coding expectations and goals.

    What you will do in this role:

    + Ensure complete, accurate, timely and consistent coding and DRG/code validation, while adhering to published coding guidelines and Company/HSC policy.

    + Review and manage data outcomes to identify root causes of coding quality issues for overall coding quality improvement.

    + Work in partnership across various teams to communicate production coding related issues such as workflow processes, forecasting, scheduling, quality activities, etc.

    + Coach and help develop team members; help resolve dysfunctional behavior within functional area(s); discipline and counsel staff as necessary.

    + Manage and monitor coding and clinical documentation improvement reconciliation operations.

    + Responsible for ensuring employee work schedules sufficiently meet those requirements as established by the HSC Leadership team and through executed SLAs.

    + Work closely with other members of the HSC Leadership Team in addressing issues related to accurate/timely coding, DRG/code validation, documentation, and unbilled management

    + Work closely with Shared Services Center team members to address issues related to unbilled management, denials, medical necessity, payment compliance

    + Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes affecting coding requirements and ensures staff are appropriately educated.

    What qualifications you will need:

    + Associate’s degree in HIM/HIT required. Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred.

    + Minimum three years health care management/leadership experience required.

    + Minimum seven years recent inpatient/outpatient hospital coding experience (production, auditing and or managing) required

    + RHIA, RHIT and/or CCS preferred
