Job Title: Research Associate I - PHCS (1 year experience)
Job Description
As a Research Associate I, you will be responsible for conducting research, development, and manufacturing laboratory experimentation and other scientific activities to support projects. Your role will involve exercising technical expertise and discretion in designing, executing, and interpreting experiments that contribute to project strategies. You will also be expected to prepare technical reports, summaries, protocols, and quantitative analyses, as well as present and discuss the results of experiments within the department and project team. Maintaining a high level of professional expertise through familiarity with scientific literature and participating in conferences and professional societies may also be part of your responsibilities.
Responsibilities
+ Execute laboratory experiments, make detailed observations, and analyze data.
+ Prepare technical reports, summaries, and quantitative analyses.
+ Maintain complete and accurate records.
+ Receive detailed directions on all work and make suggestions to improve work processes.
+ Assist in reducing to practice patentable inventions.
+ Work on projects of moderate scope, analyzing situations or data to review identifiable factors.
+ Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
+ Participate in cross-functional technical team activities.
+ Present and discuss data within the group.
+ Monitor work to ensure quality and continuously promote Quality First Time.
+ Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Essential Skills
+ Experience with laboratory research.
+ Basic knowledge of laboratory techniques.
+ Familiarity with scientific literature.
+ Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software.
+ Entry-level experience preferred, less than 1 year.
+ Bachelor's degree in a scientific field.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Familiarity with searching scientific literature.
+ Skills in graphical and presentation software applications.
+ Backgrounds in chemistry or biology are considered.
+ Strong collaboration and ability to work with multiple stakeholders.
+ Solid understanding of scientific principles, pathology, and development processes.
+ Hands-on wet lab skills required.
+ Flexibility to adapt to different tasks and responsibilities.
Work Environment
The position is based in Oro Valley, Arizona, just north of Tucson, surrounded by the Santa Catalina Mountains and Sonoran Desert. The work environment is collaborative, with a focus on teamwork and inclusion. The site is part of the Diagnostics division, working on assay development, reagent production, and molecular diagnostics. Employees often highlight the scenic views, hiking trails, and sunny climate as perks of working there. The site is known for a supportive environment that encourages a balance between professional and personal life. Training is provided on Ultra/Ultra Plus instruments, and the focus is on development, verification, and validation rather than traditional research.

This is a Contract position based out of Oro Valley, AZ.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
