Job Title: Lab Assistant (Associates and 6 months industry preferred)
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Laboratory Assistant to join our team in the Downers Grove, IL area. This role is crucial in maintaining the efficiency and cleanliness of our laboratory environment while supporting scientific staff with precision and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
+ Maintain the upkeep and cleanliness of the laboratory.
+ Stock lab supplies and personal protective equipment (PPE), and prepare glassware for scientists and technicians.
+ Prepare microanalysis tools for scientists, including needles, glass microslides, and other tools as needed.
+ Perform and maintain inventory control, ensuring chemicals are stored properly, separate inventory based on client needs, and place orders with the purchasing department.
+ Work within the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to update inventory, chemicals, and data properly and accurately.
+ Document all tasks in accordance with standard operating procedures and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGxP) standards to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
+ Participate in monthly cleanroom cleaning.
+ Maintain small equipment, including pH meters, microscopes, and remote particle counters.
+ Requalify refractive index liquids and prepare reagents as directed by scientific staff.
+ Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor with colleagues and clients, ensuring clear and effective communication at all times.
+ Follow all Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) protocols and company policies during laboratory operations.
Essential Skills
+ At least 6 months of laboratory experience in either an industry or academic setting.
+ Understanding of basic chemistry, including acids, bases, and flammables.
+ Experience with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and inventory control.
+ Proficiency with the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
+ Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and standard operating procedures (SOP).
+ Strong data entry skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Associate's degree in sciences or equivalent laboratory experience.
+ Strong dexterity and precision.
+ Ability to work well in a team and collaborate cross-functionally.
+ Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
+ Willingness to learn and assist where needed.
Work Environment
This position operates on a 1st shift, Monday through Friday, with flexible start and end times aligned with the trainer's hours during the training period (between 6:30-8:30am). Once fully trained, you will have the flexibility to start between these hours and work an 8-hour day with a 30-minute unpaid lunch. No overtime or weekend work is required. You will work on the cleanroom team and train directly with the current lab assistant before they leave early next year. A significant part of this role involves making tools for microanalysis, including crafting small needles from Tungsten wire and cutting crystals and glass microslides into precise sizes for particle analysis.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Westmont, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
