Role Summary
We are seeking a highly capable Test Engineer to lead complex, cross-functional hardware programs from concept through production. This role serves as a vital bridge between engineering, operations, and customers to ensure our products and processes meet stringent technical requirements, aggressive delivery schedules, and demanding quality standards. The ideal candidate combines deep engineering expertise—particularly in design and manufacturing processes—with strong program discipline and operational leadership. This person will take ownership of the technical development lifecycle, including prototyping, validation, and design for manufacturability, while managing the flow of work through design, manufacturing, operations, and quality systems.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership
• Act as the primary technical and program interface between Our teams and customers, translating customer requirements into clear, actionable internal technical specifications.
• Develop, maintain, and drive integrated project schedules, proactively identifying and mitigating risks, interdependencies, and resource constraints.
• Coordinate and lead cross-functional teams encompassing design engineering, manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain to meet cost, schedule, technical, and performance objectives.
• Manage and direct program reviews, status reporting, issue resolution, and risk mitigation plans to ensure high program visibility and alignment.
• Technical Engineering Management
• Work closely with design and manufacturing engineers to lead the end-to-end development of an SMT-compatible switch variant, including technical design
input, prototyping, iterative testing, validation, and smooth transition to volume production.
• Thoroughly review engineering documentation—including schematics, BOMs, PCB layouts, manufacturing drawings, and test plans—to ensure compliance with design intent and manufacturing feasibility.
• Champion Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Test (DFT), and qualification activities to optimize yield, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers and technicians supporting manufacturing and quality teams.
• Support complex customer technical discussions and resolve manufacturing process issues by proposing practical engineering and operational solutions.
• Document engineering designs, processes and engineering best practices for external and internal stakeholders.
Key Program Production Operations Oversight
• Ensure smooth operation of the production line, collaborating closely with manufacturing supervisors to monitor workflow, identify bottlenecks, and drive continuous process improvements.
• Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for production quality issues, leveraging engineering principles and data-driven problem-solving methods.
• Assist in resource planning and capacity management to align production throughput with program delivery schedules.
• Partner with operations to ensure business process systems (ERP, quality management, document control) are used effectively to enable on-time delivery and repeatable quality results.
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Advanced degree preferred.
•5+ years of experience in technical program management within a defense or high-precision manufacturing environment.
•Strong engineering background with hands-on experience in product design, SMT manufacturing processes, prototyping, testing, and production transfer.
•Demonstrated ability to manage complex cross-functional hardware programs and lead operational production activities.
•Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills capable of bridging technical and operational functions.
•Familiarity with quality systems, regulatory compliance (e.g. ITAR, DFARS), and contract manufacturing best practices in defense sectors is highly desirable.
Preferred
•Experience with DoD, aerospace, or other regulated hardware programs.
•Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality systems.
•Understanding of CMMC, ITAR, or defense-related compliance frameworks.
•Exposure to Lean or TOC manufacturing principles.
•Knowledge of AutoCAD 2D, 3D Modeling, Fusion or SolidWorks.
•Strong documentation, configuration, and change management discipline.
